As Dad Picks Up 6-Year-Old Daughter, Everyone Notices What’s On His Pants

Ben Sowards and his daughter, Valerie.

When Ben Sowards was called to pick up his 6-year-old daughter from kindergarten, he immediately rushed out the door. However, he took the time to make a not-so-subtle alteration to his pants first, which everyone at the school noticed.

When a parent receives a call from their child’s school in the middle of the day, their mind immediately begins racing with thoughts of all the things which might have gone wrong. We worry about everything from whether someone been hurt or was our child sent to the principal’s office for some behavior sure to leave us humiliated as parents. Hypotheticals fill our brain as a mother or father because, inevitably, you’re not getting good news if the school has called you in the middle of the day.

Such was the case when Connie Merrell Sowards received a call from her 6-year-old daughter’s school. Fortunately, the little girl had not been hurt, and she wasn’t in trouble, but she was suffering from intense embarrassment after wetting her pants in front of her classmates. Connie immediately called her husband, Ben Sowards, and asked that he pick up their daughter, Valerie. As it turned out, he was the perfect man for the job.

He felt terrible knowing that she was sitting at school with wet pants while crying out of embarrassment. So, he decided to make her feel a little less alone.

He poured some water on his own pants. When he walked into the school office, he asked his daughter to borrow her backpack so he could hide his own wet pants.

Valerie happily let her dad borrow her backpack as she laughed. Her mood completely shifted once her dad walked in sporting a pair of wet pants, too. [Source: Liftable]

“…once she saw my pants, I got that look from her where I knew everything was OK,” Sowards told The Huffington Post. “All dads know what look I’m talking about. And, we just strolled out of the school like nothing was happening.”

Soward’s oldest daughter, Lucinda, saw what her father had done and felt compelled to share it on social media, writing, “My little sis had an accident today at kindergarten & this is how my dad left to pick her up so she wouldn’t feel so sad/embarrassed.”

The photos of Soward’s awesome parenting subsequently went viral.

Ben Sowards is also dad to ten other children, many of whom he and his wife adopted out of foster care. To be sure, they could not have been blessed with a better father.
