Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, recently sat down with MSNBC to discuss the future of his party. However, his shocking remark about black people was something you almost never hear out of a Democrat.
“Democrats need an affirmative agenda to deal with issues impacting African Americans, and there’s the feeling amongst some in the African American community that Democrats as a whole have taken advantage of our loyalty to the party without reciprocating in terms of public policy accomplishments,” said Jeffries. “So that’s an issue that we’re going to have to deal with.”
Jeffries readily admitted that many blacks know they are being taken advantage of by the party which is notorious for handing out welfare in place of real solutions.
Of course, this is why record numbers of black voters supported Trump. They are tired of a party expecting and demanding their vote with nothing in return.
President Trump ran on fixing our inner-cities. That means bringing jobs and opportunity to those who need it most. That means securing our border and making sure good-paying jobs are going to American tax-paying citizens.
It may not happen overnight, but African Americans are starting to see that big government welfare and constricting trade deals are doing nothing for them.
President Trump is willing to work with anyone to make this country better. He knows that some of our biggest problems are in our inner-cities. Working to solve black unemployment and illegal immigration will make everyone better off. [Source: The Political Insider]
Detroit, Chicago, and New Orleans are all examples of major cities with black communities that have been ravaged by crime and are without much opportunity. All of these cities are also run by Democrats, suggesting an alarming pattern of neglect from the party which relies heavily on African American voters.
It’s no surprise that black voters have begun to wise up where politics are concerned. If the left intends to keep their voter base, they’re going to have to implement some positive policy change, and fast.
