While speaking at the Reagan National Defense Forum luncheon, General Joe Dunford, who was picked by Barack Obama to serve as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was asked a baited question about General James “Mad Dog” Mattis being nominated by Donald Trump to be our next Secretary of Defense. However, Gen. Dunford handled it perfectly, and his one-word response inspired a big reaction from the crowd.
Patriotic Americans are thrilled over the prospect of Marine Corps General James “Mad Dog” Mattis being installed as the United States Secretary of Defense. Since President-elect Donald Trump spoke of his intentions to make an official announcement this week regarding the General’s appointment, social media has been buzzing with excitement.
General Mattis is a total badass, who is widely respected for his military genius, excellent leadership skills, and no bullshit attitude. His hard-as-nails demeanor and sometimes shockingly honest way of speaking has propelled him to the top of the list of loved and trusted military leaders.
There has been chatter about some Democrats planning to block the Congressional waiver that would allow General Mattis to be appointed when he hasn’t yet been separated from the military for seven full years. However, according to a detailed article in National Review, blocking Mattis based on legislation passed by Congress, which restricts the president’s ability to appoint whom he chooses, may very well be unconstitutional. If the Democrats do try to refuse a waiver for Mattis, you can guarantee they’ll have a big fight on their hands — one they aren’t likely to win.
Apparently, the chairman of the Obama administration’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joe Dunford, agrees that Mattis will be our next Secretary of State. When asked by a reporter whether he has any concerns about Mattis being nominated, he answered with one word, “No,” followed by a cocky smile which drew loud laughter and applause from the audience. The moderator of the question and answer segment, Former Governor and Senator Pete Wilson, decided to expand on General Dunford’s brief response and added his own resounding, “Hell no!”
The full video of General Dunford’s entire address and questions from the audience is rather long, so the following clip begins when the reporter poses his question.
While there is no doubt that our service members and pro-military Americans are celebrating Trump’s choice to make “Mad Dog” our next Secretary of Defense, the enemies of the United States are probably shaking in their boots, and that is exactly how it should be.
