PHOTO: Haiti Official Demands Trump Explain Meaning Of ‘Shithole,’ 1 Picture Shuts Them Up

On Thursday, President Donald Trump reportedly asked a group of pro-amnesty senators why the U.S. should welcome migrants from “shitholes” like Haiti or Central America. The same night, Haiti formally summoned a U.S. official to come before the government and explain what Trump meant by “shithole.” However, there was no need for any further explanation once a picture surfaced online that instantly shut all of Trump’s haters up.

President Trump was meeting with senators in the Oval Office on Thursday in an effort to reach a compromise on immigration. “Why do we want all these people from shithole countries coming here?” Trump reportedly asked the team of senators incredulously before allegedly saying, “Why do we need more Haitians? Take them out.”

CNN, of course, was outraged that Trump would use such “vulgar terms” to describe another nation:

President Donald Trump, using vulgar terms, rejected a pitch Thursday from a bipartisan team of senators on a compromise immigration deal to protect DACA participants while increasing border security.

“Why do we want all these people from ‘shithole countries’ coming here?” Trump told senators in the Oval Office, a source briefed on the meeting told CNN.

The source said Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin was explaining to him a proposal to end the visa lottery in exchange for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for countries such as El Salvador. Durbin was going through a list of TPS countries that would be covered. When he got to Haiti, Trump asked why the US wants more people from Haiti and African countries.

According to The Gateway Pundit, in response to Trump’s comment, the Haitian government reportedly “summoned” a U.S. official to “explain” what the president meant.

MSNBC contributor Yamiche Alcindor tweeted, “Haiti’s US Ambassador Paul Altidor tells me Haiti’s government has formerly [sic] summoned a US official to explain Trump’s comments to Haiti’s officials. ‘Haitians fought along US soldiers in the revolutionary war and we continue to be great contributors to American society,’ he said.”

Apparently, in her haste to condemn the president, Alcindor neglected to proofread her tweet. She later corrected herself, blaming autocorrect and saying that “everyone knew what it meant” when she used the word “formerly” instead of “formally.”

“I just talked to Haiti’s Ambassador to the United States Paul Altidor who said he and the Haitian government ‘vehemently condemn’ President Trump’s comments which they believe are ‘based on stereotypes,'” Alcindor added. “Either the president has been misinformed or he is miseducated,” she quoted the Ambassador as saying.

Then, she appeared on MSNBC with Rachel Maddow to pontificate on the many “contributions” Haitians have made to “American society”:

In a reply to Alcindor’s tweet and the Haitian Ambassador’s comment, one Twitter user perfectly summed up why Haiti could correctly be referred to as a “shithole.”

Matt Semite wrote, “Haiti is ranked #181 on GDP per capita out of 198 tracked countries. For human development, it’s #137 out of 151 tracked countries. For murder, it’s #173 out of 219 tracked countries. How exactly is Trump misinformed or miseducated?”

However, if this wasn’t enough evidence that Haiti is the literal definition of a “shithole,” a photo has surfaced on social media for anyone who needs to see it with their own eyes to believe the president’s words:

After President Donald Trump called Haiti a “shithole” during a meeting with pro-amnesty senators, a photo surfaced on social media of a young Haitian boy standing amid putrid water, overflowing trash, and uncontrolled sewage. (Photo Credit: Rudi Toot/Twitter)

After seeing a photo like this one, it’s actually difficult to think of a word to describe Haiti other than “shithole.” If the Haitian government wants to know what President Donald Trump meant by the term, they can all just take a look out the window.
