In a day and age when most celebrities loathe the values our great country was founded upon, there are still a few famous patriots out there who fearlessly defend the principles outlined in our Constitution. Country singer Jamey Johnson is one of the good guys. When House of Blues in Myrtle Beach (HOBMB) told him to disarm before entering the concert venue where he was set to play on Sunday, he had a much better idea.
As country music’s resident badass, it’s no surprise to learn that Johnson carries a weapon wherever he goes — even to the various concert venues where he entertains audiences. Sunday was no different for Johnson, but when he arrived at HOBMB in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, he was asked to pass through a metal detector before entering the building.
Johnson refused to remove his concealed weapon in order to enter HOBMB, leading to a disagreement between the singer and the venue, which ultimately culminated in the cancellation of his performance.

On Sunday, HOBMB announced the cancellation via a Facebook post, writing, “As always, the safety and security of our guests is our number one priority. Tonight’s artist refused to adhere to our safety and security guidelines and would not enter the building. Unfortunately, tonight’s show is canceled.”
However, if the House of Blues was truly concerned about the “safety and security” of their guests, they’d be encouraging people to carry guns, not preventing them from doing so. Over 98 percent of all mass shootings occur in gun-free zones, just like HOBMB, because the individuals there are effectively sitting ducks. With no way to defend themselves, these helpless people make the easiest targets for any crazed gunman with a penchant for bloodshed.
Tony TC Coleman, a member of Johnson’s band, explained what happened in a Facebook post which has since been removed. “As a member of Jamey’s band, House of Blues Management ‘Live Nation’ was wrong for how they treated the situation,” he wrote. “Jamey was ready to give an amazing performance as he has done every night since the year and 3 months I’ve been in his band,” he continued.
“I stand with him on this,” added Coleman. “House of Blues didn’t need to treat us like we were terrorists. They put a metal detector between Jamey’s busses and the stage entrance and the only people coming in and out of his buses was us,” he further explained.
“His band and crew and we all have laminated stage identification,” the post continued. “We did not come to House of Blues to be treated like we are going to kill the fans. If someone came backstage to harm anybody you better pray there is a Jamey Johnson type individual around.”
Social media users overwhelmingly sided with Johnson on the matter and called out HOBMB for their stupid decision, which created a massive inconvenience for many of Johnson’s fans. “F—k you,” concert goer Mike Cockman wrote on Facebook. “300.00 motel room, 5 hour drive. 100.00 spent on your restaurant. The HOB can kiss my ass.”
“I got his autograph. Jamey has enough ‘safety’ from his fans. If he carries a pistol so be it. HOB must be funded by the so called ‘liberal’ generation these days,” commented Tims Page, according to MILO.
“Glad to know this before we came down. Guess where we WON’T be spending any money,” wrote Kevin Chicwak. “Good to know you discriminate against law abiding citizens who practice their Constitutional Rights. What did you think he was going to do, shoot his own fans?”
This incident will undoubtedly cause Johnson’s popularity to soar while doing precisely the opposite for HOBMB. In the past, we have seen the way American patriots rally behind like-minded celebrities and businesses while refusing to spend their hard-earned money at establishments which promote a progressive agenda.
