Megyn Kelly was seemingly all anyone could talk about last week after news broke that she had decided to leave Fox, after twelve years with the network, opting for a job at NBC instead. However, the excitement over Kelly’s move is likely to die down just as quickly as it started since she just got bad news, proving she should have never messed with Fox.
“Nobody knows when Megyn starts,” an insider told People Magazine. “She is still under contract at Fox until July, then she has a six-month non-compete [clause].” Kelly’s last show on Fox aired Friday, and according to the source, “nobody knows what she is going to be doing” over the next year.
“Fox might let her out of the non-compete, but they might not,” the insider added. “There is so much that has to still be arranged. It’s definitely not like she’s starting on the Today show Monday morning!”
Kelly released a statement to her social media followers and fans last Tuesday when news broke that she had decided to leave Fox:
Over a dozen years ago I started at Fox News in a job that would change my life. Now, I have decided to end my time at FNC, incredibly enriched for the experiences I’ve had. I have agreed to join NBC News, where I will be launching a new daytime show Monday through Friday, along with a Sunday evening news magazine program. I will also participate in NBC’s breaking news coverage and its political and special events coverage.
While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge. I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters. More to come soon.
Happy New Year, and God bless.
She also addressed the news during Tuesday’s broadcast of The Kelly File, saying, “This was a tough decision for me because I love this show, our staff, my crew, my colleagues here at Fox — and you, all of you. Now I don’t actually know most of you, so perhaps it’s not true love. But it’s the kind of feeling that makes one feel connected to another human being. And that is after all why I believe we’re here: Human connection. The truth is I need more of that in my life, in particular when it comes to my children, who are 7, 5 and 3.”
A personal and professional note from me to you:After more than a dozen years at Fox News, I have decided to pursue a new challenge. This was a tough decision for me because I love this show, our staff, my crew, my colleagues here at Fox – and you, all of you.

Many conservatives are happy to see Megyn Kelly leave after she went on the warpath with Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, so many won’t be disappointed to hear that she’s in limbo for possibly the next year. In fact, many would say, it’s exactly what she deserves.
