A shocking video just released out of Ferguson shows the mindset of many of the protesters who have been expressing their outrage at the lack of indictment against Officer Darren Wilson, while at the same time showing that many could care less about the facts surrounding the case.
Ami Horowitz from Truth Revolt took a trip down to the St. Louis suburb to interview some of the demonstrators, and it’s hard to believe some of them actually hold the views they do.
Sadly, many of the people he talked to had absolutely no problem showing their own racism while trying to accuse Horowitz, along with every other white person in America, of being inherently racist. A common attitude among the demonstrators was that black people are incapable of being racist, despite the fact many of them seem to dislike white people for nothing more than the color of their skin.
At one point in the video Horowitz asks the protesters what they would like to see happen to Officer Wilson as a result of him shooting Michael Brown, and many of them called for his murder. This is despite the fact that all of the evidence points to Wilson never committing a crime.
In a surprising turn, when the demonstrators were asked about President Obama, many of them expressed sheer anger towards him. One of the protesters even said, “I don’t have anything good to say about him.”
While it’s understandable for some to think that there’s still pockets of racism that exist in our country, I fail to realize how it’s okay for certain people to classify all white people as racist devils, as one of the people in the video had done, while holding everyone else accountable for their words and beliefs. Racism is racism, regardless of the color of a person’s skin and regardless of who is harboring such views. Until we start holding everyone to the same standards, we really can’t expect much to change.
After all, allowing special privileges for one group based only on the color of their skin is racist in itself.
