On Wednesday, the New England Patriots visited the White House in celebration of their Super Bowl 51 victory, but quarterback Tom Brady was notably missing. Citing “personal family matters,” Brady ducked out of his team’s visit, and what his supermodel wife did the same day raised some eyebrows.
“I am so happy and excited that our team is being honored at the White House today,” Brady said in a statement. “Our team has accomplished something very special that we are all proud of and will be for years to come. Thank you to the President for hosting this honorary celebration and for supporting our team for as long as I can remember,” he continued.
“In light of some recent developments, I am unable to attend today’s ceremony, as I am attending to some personal family matters,” he added. “Hopefully, if we accomplish the goal of winning a championship in the future years, we will be back on the South Lawn again soon. Have a great day!”
Brady did not elaborate on the exact nature of the family matters he was forced to attend to, but it is known that his mother, Galynn, has been battling cancer for nearly two years, which is the reason she missed almost all of his games this year.
Brady made headlines months ago for calling Trump a “good friend” after a “Make America Great Again” hat was spotted in his locker, but his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, apparently does not feel the same way. On the same day that her husband skipped out on his team’s highly-anticipated White House visit, Bündchen tweeted a link to the anti-Trump “People’s Climate Change” march being held in Washington, D.C., on April 29.
The march aims to protest President Donald Trump’s environmental policies and is scheduled for the same day as Trump’s 100th day in office.
“At the end of April, Donald Trump will have been in office for 100 days. We need to mark that day with a massive demonstration that shows that our resistance is not going to wane or fade away,” the Peoples Climate March states on their website.
The supermodel’s tweet has since been deleted but was recorded by multiple screen-grabs. [Source: Western Journalism]
It seems the Bradys are a house divided when it comes to politics. While Bündchen has long been an outspoken critic of the president, Trump claimed that her husband had already voted for him just days before the election.
“Gisele I heard you and Tom were backing Trump! Is that true??” an Instagram user asked Bündchen. She responded with an emphatic, “NO!!” Perhaps Brady skipped Wednesday’s White House visit to appease his wife, a misguided climate change enthusiast who hates the president. She may be beautiful, but it appears she’s not the brightest bulb in the box.
