The Secret Service has been hit with yet another scandal this week. First, two agents were under fire for taking selfies with President Donald Trump’s sleeping grandson. Now, something very important has been stolen, putting national security at serious risk, and agents are “scrambling like mad,” according to a law enforcement source.
Just one day after it was revealed that Donald Trump III had been sleeping in the backseat of a Secret Service vehicle when he awoke to find two agents taking selfies with him, New York Daily News revealed that a laptop containing sensitive information was stolen from another agent.
“The Secret Service is very heavily involved and, citing national security, there’s very little we have on our side,” a police source told the publication. “It’s a very big deal. There’s data on there that’s highly sensitive. They’re scrambling like mad.”
Apparently, that “highly sensitive” data includes the floor plans to Trump Tower in New York City, where First Lady Melania Trump is still residing with her son, Barron. Also on the laptop which was stolen is information pertaining to the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
The computer was stolen on Thursday morning and still has not been located. It was sitting in an agent’s vehicle, which was parked in her Brooklyn driveway when a thief stepped out of another car, stole the laptop, and walked off carrying it in a backpack.
Also stolen were some coins and a black bag labeled with the Secret Service insignia, but those have since been recovered. It is unclear why the agent’s vehicle was sitting in her driveway unlocked.
It really sounds like the Secret Service needs to step up their game. After eight years of Barack Obama’s presidency, it is highly possible that they developed some bad habits in need of breaking. There’s a new sheriff in town now, and President Donald Trump doesn’t stand for this sort of nonsense.
