Sacha Baron Cohen, the actor best known as “Borat,” has been making headlines as he tries to resurrect his dwindling career with a new Showtime special. Cohen is targeting conservatives, focusing on his anti-gun views. Well, the Borat star chose the wrong gun store, as he dressed up in disguise hoping to buy arms illegally. Cohen ended up getting his butt kicked on video, and you can bet this scene won’t be on Showtime any time soon.
Sacha Baron Cohen has been making headlines for his pranks on his Showtime series “Who Is America?” However, in February 2017, a gun store owner wasn’t fooled by the actor’s antics.
Fox News reports, “A Riverside, Calif., gun store, Warrior One Guns & Ammo, agreed to participate in a documentary about a Hungarian immigrant wanting to buy a gun in the United States. But when the store’s owner, Norris Sweidan, finally saw the film’s subject in question, he quickly realized he was getting duped.”
“He comes in, off the bat you can see in the video I’m looking like, this guy does not look like a Hungarian immigrant. Tight-a$$ leather pants, a beard, it just didn’t fit,” Sweidan told FOX 11. “The moment his words came out of his mouth I was like, ‘this guy is full of sh*t.'”
When Cohen, in full disguise, asked to buy a gun, Sweidan says he immediately recognized the voice and “basically kicked his ass” out of his store. “I’m looking at the producer and I’m just like, ‘Am I being fooled right here?'” he recalled. “And, I just kept looking at the guy and I was like, ‘you’re Borat,'” he said, recognizing Cohen from his 2006 film.
Baron Cohen swiftly left the store without his producers — who then faced questioning by the angry gun store owner Sweidan. “We’re talking to the people, they don’t wanna give us an answer. We basically told them to get the f*ck out, you guys are all full of sh*t, have a great day, get out,” he said.
This just proves that Baron Cohen really has no sense of humor, even though he is booked as a comedian. He actually got a taste of his own medicine. The gun store owner wasn’t duped, and instead of laughing at himself for getting his butt kicked by a pro-gun patriot, he ran away.
In fact, his show sucks, and his ratings tanked on his first episode. What does he expect? He is targeting conservatives in America, and like Hillary Clinton found out, that doesn’t go well. As Deadline reports, “[F]or all the hoopla around the debut of Cohen’s Who Is America? series, the 10 PM premiering satire offering attracted a pretty meager viewership on July 15, at least on the small screen.”
They add, “Just 327,000 sets of eyeballs tuned in to the premium cabler on Sunday night to see the Borat star spoof Senator Bernie Sanders, gun activists, Trent Lott, supporters of Donald Trump and more in the first episode of the series.”
Then, there are the charges of stolen valor. Variety reports, “On Monday, a conservative street artist replaced a billboard near the CBS Television City complex in Los Angeles with a doctored image of Cohen in a wheelchair wearing an Army t-shirt. The new billboard was captioned ‘Sacha Baron Cohen walks away with a hit … and a touch of stolen valor.’ The billboard had the CBS logo. Showtime is a division CBS Corp.”
Claims that Cohen posed as a disabled veteran in his show first surfaced last week when former Alaska governor Sarah Palin claimed that she was duped into being interviewed by Cohen, who had disguised himself as a former service member with a disability.
“I sat through a long ‘interview’ full of Hollywoodism’s [sic] disrespect and sarcasm — but finally had enough and literally, physically removed my mic and walked out,” Palin wrote on Facebook.
“The disrespect of our US military and middle-class Americans via Cohen’s foreign commentaries under the guise of interview questions was perverse,” Palin continued. “Mock politicians and innocent public personalities all you want, if that lets you sleep at night, but HOW DARE YOU mock those who have fought and served our country. Truly sick.”
Sacha Baron Cohen is a has-been leftist actor hoping to humiliate conservatives in America so the Hollywood crowd will reward him with new projects. Luckily, the Borat star is learning the hard way that thumbing your nose at flyover country is the surest way to get your butt kicked and see your career go down the drain.
