Although former President Barack Obama has left the White House, it seems he’s never going to disappear. Recently, the state of Illinois gave him a special gift – and it’s downright disgusting.
It’s no secret that when Barack Obama left office, he left our country a complete and utter mess. Not only has he successfully flushed our economy down the toilet, but he crammed “affordable health care” down our throats, forcing us to pay for health insurance with skyrocketing premiums – all while using taxpayer money to fund his own lavish lifestyle.
Perhaps a bit too soon, our nation breathed a sigh of relief when President Donald Trump was elected. Now, it seems that relief may come to a halt on one particular day of the year in Illinois after a new state-wide law was introduced, creating “Barack Obama Day.”
Yes, you read that right. On Friday, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner signed “a law that will make ‘Barack Obama Day’ a state holiday beginning in 2018,” according to DownTrend. The day is set to be “celebrated” yearly on Obama’s birthday, which is August 4.
The holiday will be “observed throughout the State as a day set apart to honor the 44th President of the United States of America who began his career serving the People of Illinois in both the Illinois State Senate and the United States Senate, and dedicated his life to protecting the rights of Americans and building bridges across communities,” Senate Bill 55 reads, according to NBC Chicago.
It’s no secret that Democrats have been pushing to make the recognition of Obama’s birthday as a holiday a reality for quite some time. However, we simply cannot fathom why they think that he’s deserving of such recognition. Although they wanted the holiday to be a “legal state holiday,” where schools and state offices would close, thankfully, it was decided against, considering other Illinois presidents, like Reagan, weren’t given those holidays, but rather only a day of “acknowledgment” and “appreciation.”
Even after he’s left office, Barack Obama continues to annoy the half of the country that is sane. When he hears about this, it will undoubtedly inflate his ego a bit more, but thankfully, there’s one good thing to point out – it’s not a national holiday.
By the Grace of God, we all aren’t being forced to celebrate or honor the abysmal 44th president, but rather, just one state, Illinois. Although all presidents do deserve a certain amount of respect, there are just some things that go too far, and I think it’s safe to say that Illinois just took a giant leap towards insanity. I think the only acceptable response to Illinois’ new “holiday” is to make President Donald Trump’s birthday a national holiday – it seems fitting, right? Liberals would have a meltdown, I’m sure.
