When Speaker Nancy Pelosi canceled President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, he responded by grounding her taxpayer-funded luxury flight overseas. However, Pelosi soon discovered that if she hits, Trump will hit back even harder once he had a special gift delivered to her office.
Ever since the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives, newly elected Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has finally obtained the power she so desperately desired to be able to oppose President Donald Trump. Disturbingly, this hatred for the president runs so deep that it has infected every position she and her congressional colleagues take, ensuring that they defy Trump’s policies no matter what they entail.
Considering that Trump’s latest and most prominent aim is a border wall, subsequently, Pelosi’s greatest ambition is to prevent any amount of funding from being granted to such an agenda. In fact, her refusal to negotiate on this dire issue has resulted in a 28-day government shutdown, leaving non-essential federal employees temporarily without pay.
Of course, the shutdown didn’t stop congressional Democrats from jetting off on lavish vacations while Trump waited eagerly at the White House for them to resume talks. However, their international expeditions were quickly brought to a halt when the president intervened in their taxpayer-funded globetrotting.
On January 17, President Trump grounded Pelosi’s flight, citing the government shutdown and pending negotiations. Still, he graciously added that if she wanted to “fly commercial” on her own dime to Belgium, Egypt, and Afghanistan instead of utilizing a military aircraft, she could certainly do so.
Of course, it was clear that the letter was a thinly-disguised jab at Pelosi for canceling President Trump’s SOTU address in catty fashion. However, just when it looked like things were even for the contentious pair, Trump one-upped Pelosi in a way only he can.
Just hours after ordering her overseas excursion canceled, President Trump added insult to injury by having Pelosi’s luggage loaded onto a “military liaison” cart and had it wheeled down the halls of Congress and humiliatingly parked outside of her office for her to collect.

A photo of the carelessly piled luggage with a sign marked “Codel Pelosi” was snapped by a tipster for the Washington Free Beacon. Similar to Trump’s strategic grounding of Pelosi’s flight just one hour before takeoff, leaving the confused congresswoman stalled on a U.S. Air Force bus, the president had her baggage redirected to her office in case she wished to check it in with a commercial airline.
It’s unclear if all of the bags were Pelosi’s or if the cart also included luggage belonging to her staffers. However, the message was unmistakable, leaving the speaker in an embarrassing position.
Pelosi is probably waking up to the fact that if you hit Trump, you’d better knock him out because he’ll come back swinging twice as hard. It’s possible she realized that she made a mistake by pushing to cancel the SOTU address when Trump responded by postponing her flight for the same reason she gave.

“Due to the Shutdown,” the letter reads, “I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate. I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown. Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative.
“I look forward to seeing you soon and even more forward to watching our open and dangerous Southern Border finally receive the attention, funding, and security it so desperately deserves!”
Pelosi and her Democratic cohorts are starting to realize that Trump not only means business but that he isn’t intimidated by their underhanded and puerile tactics. In fact, one of the reasons he was elected president is because he has no problem getting down in the mud and fighting just as dirty as the leftist opposition.
If Pelosi wants to use the government shutdown for her own political gain, she’ll soon realize that this is Trump’s game and he has the advantage when it comes to playing hardball.
