CNN’s Acosta Stands Near Border & Says There’s No Emergency — Made Regret It

CNN’s Jim Acosta traveled to the Texas border to cover President Donald Trump’s visit today, but the Trump-hating reporter made a huge mistake. While standing right on the Texas-Mexico border, the 47-year-old leftist was so excited to say there was no emergency, no crisis. Well, he immediately regretted it. You’ll love this.

President Donald Trump arrived in McAllen, Texas, on Thursday to tour part of the southern border and meet with border patrol agents as he continued to make a case for a wall to stop illegal immigration. His trip came on day 20 of a partial government shutdown triggered by the Democrats playing politics and refusing to approve the measly $5.7 billion to build the wall, which is peanuts compared to our total government spending.

Of course, Jim Acosta wouldn’t miss a chance to make himself the story, and boy, did he do just that — but not in the way he intended. “I found some steel slats down on the border,” Acosta wrote on Twitter. “But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation.. at least not in the McAllen, Texas, area of the border where Trump will be today.”

Immediately, the so-called reporter went viral on social media as Americans, along with politicians and high-profile pundits, caught him actually making the case for the Southern border wall. Indeed, Acosta stood right next to a strong steel barrier and reported that all is well. You can’t make this stuff up, folks.

“CNN Chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta was mocked on social media after his report from a steel wall from the border ‘didn’t show anything resembling a national emergency’ in the area of the border that the president will be visiting Thursday in McAllen, Texas,” The Hill reported.

They added, “Republican lawmakers and media members, including House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and former CNN political analyst Peter Hamby took to Twitter to suggest Acosta was unknowingly making the president’s argument for funding from Congress to build a steel wall in order to stop what he calls a ‘humanitarian crisis’ at the border.”

It really can’t get any more embarrassing for a liberal reporter than having the left-leaning Hill write an entire article devoted to your own stupidity. But, maybe it does. There’s nothing quite like getting blasted by the opposition on Twitter after you prove their point and having them thank you for it.

“Glad to see the steel slats are deterring illegal immigrants from attempting to cross the border exactly as @realDonaldTrump said they would,” Scalise tweeted. “This is why we need to #BuildTheWall along the rest of our southern border. #WallsWork.” But, it gets even better.

None other than Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, tweeted, “I would like to thank @Acosta for pointing out how peaceful, safe and secure it is at a part of the border that HAS a wall. #RealNews #BuildTheWall.”

Trump’s Communications Specialist Hogan Gidley got in on all the fun too, posting, “A sincere and heartfelt ‘thank you’ to @Acosta and @CNN for finally showing what @POTUS has been saying: barriers work! Great job Jim!!!”

Poor Acosta. He got the attention of the big wigs, proving why someone like Kelleyanne Conway calls him a “smartass” — but maybe dumbass would be a better description. The Trump-hater isn’t going to live this down any time soon. But, sadly, little Jimmy just couldn’t let it go.

“Jim Acosta once again made a colossal ass of himself when he attempted to prove that the southern border is ‘all quiet’ and not nearly dangerous enough to warrant a wall … in front of a long stretch of border wall. Now, self-awareness and shame would dictate that he slink away and go into hiding for a while. But Jim Acosta doesn’t possess either of those things. Which is why he decided to double down,” Twitchy reported.

Acosta made a bee-line into the McAllen, Texas, business district so he could find some citizens to interview. And, he proceeded to report that these residents of McAllen, who have a constructed steel barrier on their border, feel safe.

“Nadine has lived in the McAllen area about a decade. She says it’s safe here and hasn’t seen people coming across the border causing crime and mayhem,” Acosta pointed out in one of his new tweets.

Yep, the dimwitted CNN reporter just proved Trump’s point, again. Twitchy chided the inept CNN reporter even further, writing, “Jim. Jim. Did you not just finish declaring ‘the McAllen TX area of the border’ — where you said the steel slats are located — not a ‘national emergency situation’? Do you not see why McAllen-area residents might feel like things are ‘very safe’ there?”

Jim Acosta and CNN strike again. As hard as they try to defy President Trump, it seems they always fall short as their stupidity comes to light. It really is common sense that our country needs and can afford a border wall that will free up border patrol agents in areas which now see violent illegals able to cross into the United States scot-free. How can anyone honestly argue against it? Let’s stand strong and support the President so we can ensure America is safe again — just like in McAllen, Texas, where there’s a wall, as Jim so thoughtfully pointed out.
