Haters are blaming the Indiana State Police after a thug drove like a maniac and killed a man in a fiery crash. Now, video of the horrific wreck has gone viral, showing the truth.
Leave it to the mainstream media to be the bullhorn for cop-haters whenever something goes wrong while police risk their lives in the line of duty. Recently, one thug from Indiana, later identified as 37-year-old Mark Padgett, decided to run from the cops and lead them on a dangerous high-speed chase. Now, the family of a man who died at the end of that chase is blaming the cops for doing their jobs.
According to Blue Lives Matter, the shocking incident took place on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, when Padgett ran from the cops in Indianapolis and tried to speed through the intersection of Brookville Road and Arlington on the city’s east side. Padgett quickly discovered that he was not the badass he thought he was as the vehicle that he was driving collided with a BMW in a fiery crash.
Police said that the pursuit started at about 7:15 p.m. when officers tried to stop the Oldsmobile sedan that Padget was driving for an unsafe lane movement. After refusing to stop and leading police on a four-minute chase, Padgett and Michael Ramsey, the 32-year-old passenger in Padgett’s vehicle, were shocked when they hit the BMW as they flew through the intersection.
After striking the BMW, police said that the Oldsmobile continued on its path and struck a GMC pickup truck before catching fire. It’s unfortunate that a scumbag like Padgett survives a horrific crash while another person loses their life because of his decisions.
According to local news source Fox59, Padgett suffered only broken bones in his right leg and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment. On the other hand, his passenger, Ramsey, didn’t fare as well. Emergency crews worked to free Ramsey from the wreck, and he was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy later revealed that Ramsey died of multiple blunt force trauma.
Two occupants of the pickup truck sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital for treatment as well. The driver and passenger of the BMW were reportedly taken to Eskenazi Hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries as well.
Investigators later learned that Padgett was involved in a drug deal involving heroin, possibly laced with Fentanyl, in the area of 25th and Post. Padgett was charged with resisting law enforcement resulting in death, reckless homicide, and failure to return to lawful detention. Police said he was also wanted on an outstanding theft warrant.
In my opinion, Padgett should go to prison for the rest of his life for causing the death of Ramsey, but Ramsey’s family wants to hold Indiana State Police responsible for his death instead. According to local news source WTTV, Ramsey’s girlfriend, Annie Dodson, said, “I do believe the police should have backed off. The car was legit. It wasn’t like a stolen car or anything. I believe they should have stopped the pursuit.”
I wonder if Dodson would put on a badge and face down criminals like Padgett on a daily basis. Likely not. It’s easy for people to criticize the cops when things go wrong, but the video footage released by authorities in this case clearly shows that Mark Padgett recklessly ran that intersection when he could have pulled over and surrendered to police.
Michael Ramsey was a father to four children. “I’m angry and I’m hurt,” Annie Dodson said. “I’m hurt for my children. The kids don’t have their dad no more.”
Police did not immediately release information to indicate why Michael Ramsey was in the vehicle being driven by Mark Padgett. Whatever the case, it is unfortunate that he lost his life as a result of Padgett’s actions and that his children are fatherless. While it’s easy for people to blame the cops for a loved one’s demise, the truth is that when police are forced to apprehend a suspect, bad things can and do happen. Ramsey was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
