The West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved a resolution requesting that LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Los Angeles City Council, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce permanently remove President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The vote made national headlines, with Trump’s opponents cheering the move. However, Garcetti has since come forward with some bad news for these unhinged liberals.
President Donald Trump originally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work as a producer of the Miss Universe pageants. But since then, the embattled landmark has faced the wrath of militant leftists who say Trump is not their president.
Last month, 24-year-old Austin Clay walked up to Trump’s star with a guitar case, pulled out a pickaxe, and hammered away. Daily Mail reported at the time:
Austin Clay, 24, turned himself in on Wednesday, hours after he took a pickaxe to Donald Trump’s star. Video showed Clay hammering away at the star with the tool around 3am Pacific time. He was carrying the pickaxe in a guitar case, according to reports.
Photos showed Trump’s star completely destroyed and unrecognizable with debris scattered across the sidewalk. Clay left his pickaxe at the scene before fleeing, but later called the Los Angeles Police Department and confessed to being the culprit who smashed the name plate plaque to smithereens.
Amid the controversy surrounding Trump’s star, the West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved a resolution requesting that LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Los Angeles City Council, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce permanently remove President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Having a ‘star’ on the Walk of Fame is a privilege that is highly sought after by those in the entertainment industry, allowing Mr. Trump to continue to have a star in light of his behavior toward women, particularly in the #timesup and #metoo movements, should not be acceptable in the Hollywood and entertainment industry communities,” reads the resolution, which fails to mention all of the other scandal-plagued celebrities whose stars the city council apparently has no problem displaying.
Despite the best efforts of those clearly suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, however, it doesn’t look like Trump’s star will be going anywhere anytime soon because it just so happens to be a “registered historic landmark.”
“The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark,” said Leron Gubler, the Chamber of Commerce’s president and CEO. “Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”
Even the liberal mayor of Los Angeles has since announced that he is against the removal of Trump’s star, even though he is one of the president’s fiercest critics. “We should be focused less on sidewalk problems and more on replacing a Congress that enables [Trump],” LA Mayor Eric Garcetti told TMZ.
“You know, every moment we’re out there fighting these fights or just on our Twitter feed, [in these] moments, we could be registering votes and actually flipping this Congress. That’s where I’m going to spend my energy,” he said before adding that there’s really nothing he can do anyway since Trump’s star is a historic landmark.
Garcetti is absolutely right — there’s no sense in spending precious time and energy trying to get Trump’s star removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, especially because it’s a losing battle. The star is staying right where it is, no matter how much hemming and hawing the left does.
As for “flipping Congress,” though, if this week’s special elections were any indication of what’s to come in November, Garcetti and his cronies are going to be sorely disappointed when the midterms roll around. With GDP at a staggering 4.1%, more jobs available than any other time in the history of our great nation, and unemployment at all-time lows, Republicans are in damn good shape to maintain their majority, if not to increase it substantially.
