Disney Actor Fired After Arrest – Another Sex Scandal in a Growing Trend

The Disney Corporation definitely has a personnel problem. After weathering public scandals over the last year over questionable employees, they’re in the hot seat once again. Disney Channel was forced to fire one of its actors, 48-year-old Stoney Westmoreland, after he was arrested in Utah. You won’t believe what he was up to.

We’ve talked about, time and again, how corrupt, ugly, and scandal-ridden the entertainment industry is. Over the last few years, Americans have been disgusted over what they’ve learned was happening in Hollywood. The actors, producers, and directors — some of which produced your favorite shows — have been outed for shocking behavior.

Yet we continue to support this industry as if nothing wrong is going on. How many more scandals need to come out before something legitimate is done to change show business?

Maybe this story will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Disney Channel — that station that is supposed to provide squeaky clean, family-friendly content — was forced to fire one of its grownup actors from a hit show.

Why was this man let go? Oh, he was arrested for attempting to have sex with a 13-year-old child.

Disney Channel actor Stoney Westmoreland has been fired after he was arrested in Salt Lake City for allegedly attempting to have a sexual relationship with an online acquaintance he believed was 13 years old.

In a statement Saturday, Disney announced that the 48-year-old Westmoreland had been dropped from the sitcom “Andi Mack,” on which he plays the grandfather of the teen-age title character. The show films in Utah.

Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking told The Associated Press that Westmoreland was on his way to what he believed would be a sexual encounter when he was arrested Friday and charged with enticing a minor and sending inappropriate materials, including nude images. A message left with Westmoreland’s agent, Mitchell Stubbs, was not immediately returned. [Source: Fox 26]

While this kind of crime might be becoming more and more commonplace, it is still utterly vile and depraved. It seems to happen all the time in Hollywood!

This man played the grandfather of a child on a Disney Channel TV show. Think about that. He was around children the same age as the person he thought he was going to meet. That means Disney allowed a potential child-molester to come in close contact with vulnerable children.

How is this even possible?

We know that Disney has a very bad track record when it comes to vetting their employees. Just this year it was discovered that Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn, had a long history of pedophile-related content on his social media account and website. The sheer volume of it was enough to disturb and upset numerous people.

Disney had no choice but to fire the famed director.

The problem is, of course, that Gunn worked in Hollywood for years. His social media accounts could have been easily checked by Disney. But they were looking the other way until someone else blew the whistle.

Now, we learn that a man who actually tried to have sex with a minor was working on a show full of minors. That should be very troubling for everyone.

It’s clear that, despite the constant news coverage of sexual scandals coming out in Hollywood, the industry is refusing to do anything about it.

Hollywood execs hoped it would all blow over and they could go back to the way things were. They will not do anything to prevent future scandals from happening again and again.

Only if we raise the alarm, will they be forced to change.
