When President Donald Trump and Melania were photographed stepping onto Air Force One on their way to aid Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas, it took cyberbullies no time at all to criticize the shoes that she was wearing while boarding the plane. Liberals take every opportunity to spew hate at our President and First Lady, but this time, Melania is getting the last laugh, trolling the haters while making her way to Puerto Rico.
Following Hurricane Harvey, there was a firestorm of hateful messages, comments, and even articles aimed at our First Lady for the black stilettos she wore while walking out of the White House. Liberals were up in arms that Melania would wear heels to Texas while visiting Hurricane Harvey victims, and they nitpicked over every small detail, calling her “out-of-touch” over a simple shoe choice while traveling.
Of course, she switched into sneakers before landing, but liberals completely ignored that key detail. The New York Times spent countless words on Melania’s fashion choice, with one reporter saying that the heels represented “a symbol for what many see as the disconnect between the Trump administration and reality. Another example of the way in which this president and his family continue to define ‘appropriate’ their own way; and an excuse for partisan name-calling.” However, the real “disconnect” is between the mainstream media and reality.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump took a trip to Puerto Rico to assess damage and speak to leaders following the devastating hurricanes that hit the island. While walking out to Air Force One, just like before, Melania wore heels, again, seeming to troll her haters.
Of course, she switched out her heels before arriving in Puerto Rico, but not before Melania basically told the mainstream media where to stick their criticisms without having to say a word at all. When arriving in Puerto Rico, Melania stepped out in tan Timberland work boots ready to hit the ground running, of course.
Unsurprisingly, the media still had things to say about Melania’s outfit upon arriving, criticizing her white pants, instead of focusing on the disaster at hand. Apparently, her jeans sent an “evil message.”
According to USA Today, “The message that some onlookers have perceived, whether Trump is sending it consciously or not, is that she has no intention of physically digging into the problem of disaster relief. Much the way her ‘flood heels’ left many feeling she was out of touch with the difficulties Texans were facing after Harvey; her white jeans may reiterate she’s not here to get dirty.”
We can never imagine former First Lady Michelle Obama ever getting this much negative attention for a pair of shoes or the color of her pants, yet Melania receives scrutiny over the tiniest things. Liberals are so quick to flip when in fact whatever she chooses to wear affects no one other than herself.
The effort she was making for the victims was ignored entirely, but Melania didn’t let it get her down. Like us, she’s probably come to expect the double standard, and who else was spotted in heels in Puerto Rico proved that liberals have a different set of expectations depending on your political affiliation.

While Melania Trump wore her tasteful, yet appropriate wardrobe, the loud-mouth San Juan mayor did quiet the opposite. Mayor of San Juan Carmen Yulin Cruz Soto was wearing heels as she met President Donald Trump, but no one questioned her or accused her of being uncaring.
There is always going to be a double standard between what the left can get away with while the right cannot, but we loved to see Melania stand up to the haters. No matter what she wears, the left will complain, but it’s nice to see that she doesn’t let it affect her. We love the class that Melania radiates while sticking up for herself with grace and elegance.
