Things are heating up for Broward County Florida Sheriff Scott Israel as his incompetence continues to be exposed. In fact, while appearing on CNN to brag about his “amazing leadership,” viewers were left shocked by what the host let slip just one second later.
As information is still coming out of Parkland, Florida, pertaining to the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead on February 14, the left’s narrative is crumbling. Since day one, America has been told that we need gun control in order to prevent another tragedy like this, but now, we have proof that these sentiments are not accurate.
For one, both local and federal law enforcement agencies had been informed of the threat the shooter posed to society with plenty of time to stop him, but they dropped the ball — repeatedly. According to a report released by CNN, deputies had visited the killer’s home a whopping 39 times over a seven-year period. Along with that, the FBI had been called several times after the deranged monster had made public threats online.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, we now know that 4 Broward County Deputies waited outside the school while children were being massacred inside during the shooting. Although it was initially reported as just one deputy, that number has since changed to a whopping four, demonstrating leadership incompetencies that had devastating results.
Despite this reality, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel recently appeared on CNN to brag about his “amazing leadership.” However, things wouldn’t exactly go according to plan — and too bad for the network’s gun-grabbing, liberal audience, they would be left shocked to hear what CNN anchor Jake Tapper let slip in the middle of Sheriff Isreal’s self-celebratory spiel.
It all started when Tapper brought up an instance where the Broward County Sheriff’s Office dealt with a threat made by the shooter over social media about 2 years ago. Sheriff Israel would admit that he “was not sure if anything was done with that information,” but insisted that his office handled most of the calls made about the killer “appropriately.”
Things were about to take a turn as a shocked Tapper started to turn up the heat. “Are you really not taking any responsibility for the multiple red flags that were brought to the attention of the Broward sheriff’s office about this shooter before this incident, whether it was people near him, close to him, calling the police?” Tapper asked.
Showing his complete lack of accountability, Sheriff Israel then responded by touting his “amazing leadership.” Just like that, he was interrupted on the spot, and what Tapper let slip next left viewers downright shocked — and more than just a little angry.
“Jake, I can only take responsibility for what I knew about,” Sheriff Israel replied to Tapper’s tough line of questioning. “I exercised my due diligence. I’ve given amazing leadership to this agency —” he continued before Tapper cut him off.
“Amazing leadership?” an incredulous Tapper interjected, as Bizpac Review reports.
“Yes, Jake,” the sheriff doubled down. “There’s a lot of things we’ve done throughout this — this is — you don’t measure a person’s leadership by a deputy not going in to — these deputies received the training they needed,” he stumbled, trying to give an asinine explanation.
Jake Tapper wasn’t having it, and he quickly fired back, “Maybe you measure somebody’s leadership by whether or not they protect the community.”
He then went scorched earth, adding, “In this case, you’ve listed 23 incidents before the shooting involving the shooter and still nothing was done to keep guns out of his hands, to make sure that the school was protected, to make sure you were keeping an eye on him — I don’t understand how you can sit there and claim amazing leadership?”
Shockingly and rather sadly, it wasn’t long before CNN viewers let Jake Tapper know how furious they were with his line of questioning, even telling him to “chill out” and accusing him of “stumping for the NRA,” which only shows the left’s true concern in this situation. It isn’t about saving lives and protecting children, it’s all about using this tragedy to infringe on the Second Amendment.
Chill out Jake. You weren’t asking tough questions. You were throwing accusations based on statements that were not based in facts. Felt like I was watching Fox and not what I’d expect from your professionalism. #CNNSOTU #chilloutjake https://t.co/JDbWMT7BHG

Although CNN does a lot of things wrong these days, you have to give Jake Tapper credit here for going against the grain and asking the important questions. Sheriff Scott Israel is ultimately accountable for the actions of his department. He’s an elected official, but contrary to his liberal beliefs, his responsibilities don’t go away simply because he refuses to acknowledge them.
Lives were lost because of Sheriff Israel’s incompetence and politicizing of his department, and the fact that he is going around bragging about his leadership right now is beyond unspeakable. We need to address all the failures here, and the gun this shooter got his hands on was just a small piece of the puzzle. The fact that liberals are mad at Jake Tapper for asking fairly obvious questions proves that this is more about politics than it is saving lives — and that should be enough to concern any American.
