Actor and comedian Jamie Foxx is known for speaking his mind about various cultural topics, and he doesn’t seem to mind if he ruffles people’s feathers. But on Monday night, the controversial star showed his true colors after a speeding car crashed in front of his Hidden Valley home and burst into flames after overturning.
TMZ is reporting that it was later in the evening when a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 32-year-old man, was speeding in the neighborhood northeast of Las Angeles when it veered out of control and flipped into a ditch outside of Foxx’s home. Apparently, the Oscar-winning actor heard the commotion outside, and he is earning a lot of praise for what he did next.
According to ABC News, Foxx immediately dialed 911 after hearing the accident, then he hurried outside to see what was going on, and that’s where things became intense. Apparently, the Tacoma had burst into flames, and fearing for the driver’s life, Foxx sprang into action to free the man.
“Jamie didn’t hesitate. He jumped out and ran to the car,” a member of Foxx’s publicity team said.
Foxx, 48, approached the truck as quickly as he could, then unbuckled the driver and pulled him to safety some 30 to 40 feet away until police arrived. Details of what happened after are slim, but the driver of the truck was transported to the hospital for treatment and was “arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol,” police said.
It’s funny how situations like this really do bring out people’s true character. Love him or hate him, you have to give Foxx credit for risking his own life to save another, since he could have easily waited for police to arrive and deal with it.
