Man Begins To Read Bible Aloud On Train, Passengers Have Shocking Response

When a man on a public train began to read from the Bible, his fellow passengers’ reaction was nothing short of shocking. Their response to the reading of the Word of God is a chilling example of the spiritual darkness that seems to be sweeping across the once Christian West.

In most parts of the world, you’ll find street preachers. These evangelists put their reputations — and often lives — on the line in order to spread the Good News. From the biggest cities in America to the remotest jungles, these men and women can be found. While many passersby ignore them, there are often people who stop and listen and even respond to their message of hope and truth.

As someone with a background in this kind of evangelism, I can tell you it isn’t easy. Speaking in front of strangers about the Bible takes a good measure of boldness and bravery. You never know how someone might react to hearing the Word of God. They might insult you — they might even attack. But, nobody expected the result that recently unfolded on a train in the middle of London, England.

According to reports, when a man stood up to read from the Bible, his fellow passengers tried to get off of the train. I don’t mean get off at the next stop. They fled the train, prying open the doors and jumping onto the tracks — just to get away from the Bible-reading man.

Commuters travelling in South-West London experienced delays Monday morning after passengers on a train forced open the doors and ran onto the tracks to escape a man with a bible.

The incident took place near Wimbledon station, as a passenger on a packed commuter train started reading lines from the bible. Another passenger asked the man to stop because he was “scaring” others, but it was already too late and panic had set in

Fellow commuters in their panic prised open the train doors and climbed down onto the track to escape the man, forcing the rail operator to turn off power to the area to prevent anyone being electrocuted. The power isolation ultimately delayed hundreds of thousands of commuters, according to reports. [Source: Breitbart]

How morally bankrupt do you have to be that you’d risk your own life, just to get away from a man with a Bible?

In major cities in America, including Los Angeles and New York, you’ll find people preaching in public. Many regularly read their Bibles in public and discuss their faith openly — as a former New Yorker, I can attest to this. Has London become so hostile towards the Christian faith that they cannot even tolerate a man preaching the Good News?

Nothing the man said would have incited such panic in America. According to eye-witnesses, he was calm and respectful — a true English gentleman.

“He was quite well spoken and calm,” he said. “He said: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to talk to you about something and that something is the word of the Lord, Jesus Christ. He’s here to heal your sins. The Bible tells you that homosexuality is a sin and sex before marriage is a sin. You need to repent’.” [Source: The Guardian]

This is a horribly tragic cultural change. London was once the center of missionary work in the world. Major churches were based there, which sent out missionaries and evangelists to the remotest parts of the world. Some of the greatest leaders of the faith were from England, including revolutionary evangelist John Wesley and his brother — not to mention celebrated preacher Charles Spurgeon, whose church was located in London.

But, today, people are fleeing from the Bible, as if it were a poison. Their reaction reminds me of cartoon characters, hissing when they get in contact with holy water. Did they think the Bible was going to roast them alive? Were they so evil, that even being near a Bible would cause them to burst into flames?

Probably not. The sad reality is, London has become a hostile place for the Word of God. Native Englishmen are becoming more and more secular, while Islam begins to take greater root. In a short few years, England might become the least-Christian nation in the world, all because there are not enough men like this preacher on the train.

It’s telling that the British paper called him a “Doomsday” preacher just for reading from the Bible. That tells you everything about English culture today. Simply reading from the Bible, hoping to spread the light, is now considered doom and gloom. The Bible is so alien to these people that they look at it as some kind of punishment. How long before that becomes the norm in the United States? I hope never but fear it will be all too soon.
