Once again, the media has been caught telling an outright lie about President Donald Trump. This time, POTUS made them regret their shameful antics just hours later, on the holiday celebrating civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Media outlets and left-wing commentators slammed President Donald Trump for not celebrating Martin Luther King Day on Monday.
Vibe sarcastically reported: “Shocker. President Donald Trump has no public events scheduled for Dr. Martin Luther King day.”
Shareblue also trashed the president while simultaneously lauding his predecessor in an article headlined “Trump and Pence have zero plans to honor MLK Day”:
Trump and Pence are rejecting a chance to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. after President Obama embraced his legacy.
Both Trump and Mike Pence initially refused to hold any public events to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on MLK Day.
Neither Trump nor Pence listed any public events on their schedules released to journalists for MLK Day 2019. The rejection of King is a break from recent presidential tradition.

Of course, to applaud Barack Obama in this fashion while crucifying President Trump is overwhelmingly ironic, considering it was Obama who brought race relations in American back several decades during his eight years in office. Meanwhile, Trump has done more for minority communities than any of the men who came before him.
Now, there is no better country in the world in which to be African-American. But, apparently, this is lost on the left.
In any case, the liberal outlets which bashed Trump were forced to eat crow hours later, when the president revealed that he did, in fact, have something planned in honor of the MLK holiday.
President Donald Trump made a surprise Monday morning visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in Washington D.C. on the holiday named in his honor.
Trump made the visit alongside Vice President Mike Pence and a National Park ranger to mark the occasion. The president pre-empted the visit with a tweet lauding the national holiday and by issuing a presidential proclamation.
“Good morning, everybody. Great day. Beautiful day. Thank you for being here. Appreciate it,” Trump told the assembled press team. [Source: The Daily Caller]
Not only did Trump visit the MLK memorial in Washington, D.C. in order to lay a ceremonial wreath with the Mike Pence, but he also issued a heartfelt presidential proclamation to mark the occasion:
One hundred years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, the great Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., took to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and shared his vision of an America lifted from the “quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.” His extraordinary message that momentous day in August of 1963 stirred to action Americans of every race and creed, and it continues to reverberate in the hearts and minds of patriotic citizens across our great land. Today, as we pause to mark the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we recommit ourselves to the advancement of equality and justice for all Americans, and to the full realization of his worthy dream.
This is reminiscent of a similar incident just last month when the media lambasted Trump for not visiting our troops during the Christmas holiday. They were later forced to eat their words when the president surfaced overseas with his wife and was seen doing exactly what the press accused him of not doing.
Considering their track record of embarrassing inaccuracies, you’d think the media would be more careful about these things. It doesn’t appear that they plan on increasing their vigilance anytime soon, though. And that is precisely why we call them “fake news.”
