At the funeral for former President George H.W. Bush on Wednesday, former First Lady Michelle Obama showed what little class she has by dissing President Donald Trump as he took his seat in the front row. Then, eagle-eyed viewers spotted what George W. Bush secretly handed Michelle. What do you make of this?

The funeral of a former president is a historic and opulent affair. Although the life being celebrated represents one of the most notorious politicians to have ever lived, the service to remember his life is no place for petty partisan politics which create drama and controversy.

But, apparently, Michelle Obama did not get that memo before attending the funeral service for former President George H.W. Bush on Wednesday.

The Bush family had made it abundantly clear that they did not want their patriarch’s funeral arrangements to resemble anything like the anti-Trump smear fest we saw over the summer after the late Senator John McCain (R-AZ) passed away. The Bush’s even contacted the White House months ago to make sure President Donald Trump knew that, when the time came, he would be invited to his predecessor’s funeral, along with all other living presidents and their wives.

Yesterday, President Trump did attend George H.W. Bush’s funeral, and he was seated prominently in the front row, alongside Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Jimmy and Roslyn Carter. It seemed, however, that the Obamas were none too thrilled to be seated next to the couple who replaced them in the White House.

As the Trumps made their way to their seats, the president reached over to shake hands with Barack, then after an awkward pause, Michelle shook President Trump’s hand, as well, although not without raising her eyebrows to show her displeasure.

This was essentially the handshake seen ’round the world, and as soon as the moment transpired, it began making headlines everywhere. “WATCH: MICHELLE OBAMA-DONALD TRUMP HANDSHAKE TURNS AWKWARD AS SHE RAISES EYEBROWS AT GEORGE H.W. BUSH FUNERAL” reported Newsweek:

Former President George H.W. Bush’s state funeral on Wednesday saw the awkward reunion of the Trumps, Obamas and Clintons, and former first lady Michelle Obama seemed to reflect the uneasiness of the encounter on her face.

Michelle Obama sat back in her seat and watched as President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump took their seats next to her husband, former President Barack Obama, at the Washington National Cathedral. The former first lady then watched as Donald Trump shook hands with her husband, and after a brief pause, she raised her eyebrows and shook the 45th president’s hand herself. But she did not look thrilled.

The interaction between Donald Trump and Michelle Obama may have been particularly strained because the former first lady wrote in her memoir, Becoming, published last month, that she would “never forgive” Trump for pushing the “birther” conspiracy theory that falsely claimed that Barack Obama had not been born in the United States, which would have made him ineligible to be president.

But there was another exchange of note which also took place at H.W.’s service. It was mostly overlooked thanks to the attention that was paid to Michelle’s nasty reaction to President Trump. According to The Daily CallerGeorge W. Bush snuck some candy to Michelle Obama before his father’s funeral began.

Footage shows the 43rd President pulling a piece of candy from his pocket on his way down to the front of the cathedral to hand to the former first lady.

Perhaps George W. Bush took notice of Michelle ‘s nasty attitude and thought that a piece of candy might be able to change her mood, much the same way it would for a toddler.

This woman is simply insufferable. She can’t even maintain a certain level of maturity for a couple of hours while the life of a former U.S. president is honored. Her legacy is a stain on the highly-respected office of the first lady. Thankfully, Melania Trump is bringing back the class and dignity previously associated with that office.
