When a dozen NFL players refused to stand for the National Anthem in protest of law enforcement officials, they didn’t seem to care that local police officers were watching. However, the tantrum-throwers soon realized that their political stunt had backfired when officers responded by refusing something of theirs.
While enjoying their incredible privilege, liberal elitists continue to play the victim in order to shame the men and women who love and protect our exceptional nation. Ignoring facts and logic, one of the favorite targets of leftists is our brave and selfless emergency responders. Despite hypocritically accepting the services these officials provide, the left incites violence and hatred toward them, silencing all debate by claiming inherent racism. Unfortunately, one NFL team picked the wrong local authorities to protest at their game.
Adding to the racist and terrorist Black Lives Matter movement, a dozen Cleveland Browns players decided to cash in on the absurd anti-America protest by refusing to stand for the National Anthem. The infantile athletes displayed their disdain for the men and women who’ve not only died to protect their freedoms but continue to do the same while they throw their cowardly fits. Weeks later, they received a response they never expected.
Fox 8 reports that in response to Browns players refusing to stand for the flag, local police, EMTs, and paramedics are refusing to participate in the home game ceremonies. The Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, dispatchers, and first responders have announced that they will not take part in the team’s flag bearing ceremony, which typically opens the games. Of course, showing that they are the better people, they will still provide emergency assistance to any of the players, regardless of their bigoted displays.
Fox 8 interviewed police union president Steve Loomis, who wasn’t shy about his feelings concerning the disrespectful protest.
“I’m here at a national police convention, and soon as they hear that I’m from Cleveland, the first question is ‘What about those stinking Browns?'” Loomis said. “So if the ownership of the Browns and the league are going to allow that type of stuff to happen, and then come to us and say, ‘We want you to help us with the flag,’ that’s hypocritical. We’re not gonna participate.”
Furious with the team’s protesting, EMS union president Daniel Nemeth said that he was excited to participate in the opening ceremony until he saw so many players kneeling in protest of him and his colleagues.
“This hit home with me. I am a veteran, an 8-year veteran with the U.S. Marine Corp. So, to disrespect the flag by taking a knee is not something I was going to be a part of,” Nemeth said.
Of course, Nemeth isn’t alone. Days earlier, Ohio veterans also responded to Browns players with a strong statement visible to the public. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Strongsville displayed on a sign that they will no longer air Browns games in their facilities. Post commander Tim Zvoncheck told WKYC that while he respects their right to free speech, such liberties also have consequences.
“For us, it doesn’t sit real well. We understand that everybody has the right to free speech. Everybody has a right to their specific feelings. But we don’t feel they have the right to disrespect… we’re not going to stand for this anymore.
“We fought for the rights of everybody in this country. We joined the military to fight for the freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. We respect that. But it has to be in a manner that we feel is respectful to us as well.”
In addition to the local officials and veterans boycotting the Browns, fans have expressed similar views, adding that they will no longer support their team.
Spoiled athletes across the nation are protesting against our military and law enforcement without even knowing why they are protesting. They claim there is systematic racism yet cannot give any statistics or argument to back their accusations. They despise those who protect them yet expect extra security due to their privileged status.
While these filthy rich professionals have every right to hate and protest our nation’s finest, they must realize that their freedoms come with consequences. Just as most everyone would be fired for using their job as a platform for political protesting, these wealthy athletes should be terminated for exploiting their sports team’s airtime for their own political agenda. Viewers didn’t pay to be preached at by virtue-signaling liberal elitists. They pay to watch them toss around a ball.
