As tensions between the United States and North Korea continue to escalate, the island of Guam has been thrust into the middle of the controversy. As the rogue regime preps for a missile strike, the Governor of Guam has issued a shocking message to President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump warned North Korea against ongoing aggression aimed at the United States. “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” said the president. “They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen. He [Kim Jong-un] has been very threatening beyond a normal statement. And as I said, they will be met with fire, fury, and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.”
Defense Secretary James Mattis reaffirmed this sentiment, saying, “The DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.”
Trump’s comment seemingly prompted the Hermit Kingdom to up the ante. On Wednesday, North Korea threatened a missile attack on Guam sometime in mid-August.
According to Christian News Alerts, Democrats like Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) have been widely critical of President Trump’s harsh rhetoric surrounding the situation with North Korea, claiming it will only incite war. Waters suggested “diplomacy” in dealing with North Korea. We should just give them what they want, she idiotically asserted.
“I think there are some things that they want from us, and we have to find out whether or not we can work with them on the things that they’re asking for,” said Waters. “And so this is something we should be very concerned about. But this is not the time to go bluffing and threatening. This is a time for diplomacy.”
North Korea’s threat on Wednesday to strike Guam might have given Democrats like crazy Maxine more ammunition for their argument that Trump ought to tone down his rhetoric had it not been for the Governor of Guam, Eddie Calvo.
“We have, right now, we got 160,000 American citizens in this island, 50,000 American citizens in the Northern Marianas, and any given day, we’ve got 10-15,000 tourists enjoying our shores,” Calvo told Fox News. “And, we encourage everyone to go through their lives and live them like they would do any other day. But then, at the same time, we have our civil government working in collaboration with the military regional command here, that is prepared for any type of contingency,” Calvo added, according to IJR.
After assuring the residents of Guam that proper contingencies were being taken in the event of a missile launch, Calvo said of Trump, “As far as I’m concerned, as an American citizen, I want a president that says that if any nation such as North Korea attacks Guam, attacks Honolulu, attacks the West Coast, that they will be met with hell and fury.”
In the face of hostility, America needs to present a strong, united front. What we do not need are Democrats undermining the president in their never-ending quest to be politically correct. You simply cannot be “diplomatic” with a tyrant like Kim Jong-un. It’s like trying to reason with a baby. It doesn’t work.
