When a man decided to set fire to the pumps at a New York City gas station, he quickly realized that he wasn’t as prepared to be a terrorist as he thought.
While there are many forms of jihad, including legal jihad, love jihad, and political jihad, the oldest and most intimidating is terrorism. Of course, to be considered successful at terror jihad, the perpetrating mujahid needs only to slaughter at least one infidel. Unfortunately for one wannabe jihadist, this was simply too difficult a task to accomplish.
On July 30, 26-year-old Fakrol Islam decided to take his religion seriously. Islam headed to a gas station on Staten Island, purchased $40 worth of gasoline from the clerk, and filled his canister to the brim. A few seconds later, Islam was enacting Allah’s commands against the unbelievers. What he didn’t expect was that his religious “struggle” would require a bit of common sense.
According to CBS New York, Fakrol Islam accidentally set himself on fire while attempting to blow up gas station pumps in Staten Island, burning his feet in the process. Surveillance video captured Islam filling his canister before purposefully spraying gas around the pumps at the Richmond Avenue station. He then proceeds to light a piece of paper with a match and slowly bring it to the petrol-covered ground. As expected, the flames quickly engulfed him.
Luckily, the employee noticed Islam’s suspicious behavior and closely monitored him as he pumped the fuel. The clerk immediately shut off the pumps when the blaze ensued, and the emergency sprinkler system engaged.
The clerk told the media that Islam’s shoes caught fire before he kicked them off in a desperate attempt to avoid being burned. He then fled in a blue minivan but was later identified and arrested by the NYPD in Buffalo. A 21-year-old man who was standing nearby also suffered minor injuries to his feet in the blaze.
Islam has since been charged with arson, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief, according to the New York Daily News. It is unclear if he is still in police custody or has been released on bail.
Fakrol Islam’s best strategy, according to recent legal proceedings, is to claim mental issues as his defense. Disturbingly, the courts are quick to accept this excuse as a legitimate reason for sudden violent outbursts from devout Muslims. However, if they would merely look to the Quran, they would find all the motivation they need.
There are over 100 verses in the Quran in which Allah commands Muslims to use physical brutality to force non-Muslims to submit to Islam. In fact, these appropriately labeled “verses of violence” far outnumber the original, abrogated verses of tolerance and peace.
Quran (4:74) – “Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.”
Quran (5:33) – “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement.”
Quran (8:12) – “(Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels… “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.”
Quran (8:39) – “And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion is all for Allah.”
As long as the Quran is followed, Muslims will continue to wage jihad against non-Muslims. The sooner we understand the religious motivation behind these acts of violence, the sooner we can combat them. Fortunately, there are plenty of useless jihadists who are more of a danger to themselves than the infidels they hope to abuse.
