Aside from the useful idiots parroting everything they’re told, not too many people were happy about Barack Obama taking unilateral action on gun control since we have a legislative process for a reason. Well, his dictatorial decree apparently took things too far, and he just received some really bad news about it.
Thankfully, there’s groups out there who love our rights as much as we do, and they have the money to put the kibosh on overreaching presidents, and that’s exactly what’s about to happen. According to The Hill, King Barry is finally being legally challenged for his blatant disregard of the limits of power set forth in the Constitution, as well as the rights protected by it.
No sooner did the Supreme Court announce that it was going to hear a separate case over Obama’s illegal amnesty plan did Freedom Watch, a conservative advocacy group, file a suit against Obama regarding his executive power grab. In the filing, Freedom Watch accuses Obama of circumventing Congress, who represents the will of the people, so that he could go off on his own and “invent” new gun laws.
More from The Hill:
“The president states that he is doing so purely because he does not like the legislative decisions of the Congress,” wrote Larry Klayman, the founder of Freedom Watch, who is also a National Rifle Association member.
“These actions are unconstitutional abuses of the president’s and executive branch’s role in our nation’s constitutional architecture and exceed the powers of the president as set forth in the U.S. Constitution,” he continued.
This is believed to be the first in what is expected to become a series of legal challenges over Obama’s gun orders. But many legal experts predict the executive action will prevail.
The president announced the gun orders two weeks ago as part of a major push by his administration to crack down on gun violence across the country.
Freedom Watch believes that Obama is illegally redefining the nation’s gun laws, and it’s hard to disagree after at least one executive order sought to redefine who exactly a gun dealer was, thus broadening the scope of those required to get a license. He’s also unilaterally hiring hundreds of new federal agents to investigate otherwise innocent Americans, then put them on “notice” should the bureau decide they sell enough guns to have to be licensed. Nazism, anyone?
The lawsuit against Obama was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and it also names as defendants Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Thomas Brandon, director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
While it’s good news that someone is finally taking Obama on, over his executive overreach, it’s incredibly sad that it takes a private group to do what the 535 elected “representatives” have failed to do in the last seven years. Regardless, let’s hope they’re successful at defeating Obama’s power grab, since it will do absolutely nothing to prevent crime and will only make the lives of law-abiding gun owners more difficult.
