As many Americans count down the days until Barack Obama leaves our White House, a few liberal celebrities are still making a fuss over the current First Family. One such celebrity, who’s had nothing but praise for the Obamas, is Oprah Winfrey. After conducting Michelle’s final interview as First Lady, leftists turned to Oprah for her opinion on the topics discussed, and she just revealed a shocking truth about Michelle.
Good news! Although media mogul Oprah Winfrey received quite a bit of attention for her interview with Michelle Obama last month, she announced on Tuesday that she will “never” run for political office. Republicans can breathe a sigh of relief, as Winfrey would be hard to beat with her constant race-baiting, radically liberal views, and shady relationship with the truth — all things which Democrats love.
During an interview on Late Night with Stephen Colbert, the host asked Winfrey about her sit down with the First Lady. “It was fun, but it was bittersweet because I had done a similar interview for the magazine in 2008 when the girls were just like baby children,” she replied.
Not surprisingly, the television star went on to heap praise upon Mrs. Obama for doing basically nothing over the past four years. “For me, you know, [an] African-American woman, being able to see that reflection of myself through the girls and through her, just their presence there, I’m going to miss that. But it has meant so much to me. The way she’s handled all of it, the critics from the beginning, the way she’s handled all of it.”
However, Michelle Obama didn’t exactly handle her interview with Oprah well, coming off bitter and resentful that Donald Trump had won the election, despite her ardent campaigning for Hillary Clinton. “Now we’re feeling what not having hope feels like,” she famously said.
This hasn’t changed Winfrey’s mind about the First Lady at all, though. “Now everybody likes her, but they didn’t start out that way,” she observed, indicating that Michelle Obama’s popularity has grown during her time in the White House.
As Western Journalism points out, that isn’t exactly true:
According to Gallup polling, the opposite is true. In the spring of 2009, Obama’s approval rating was 79 percent. Last summer after the Democrat convention, Gallup found 64 percent hold a favorable view, which was up from 58 percent before the convention.
When Colbert asked Tuesday if Oprah Winfrey thought the First Lady would seek to turn her popularity into a run for political office, Winfrey replied, “Never!” echoing what the Obamas themselves have already said about Michelle’s potential future in politics.
The host then turned the question on Oprah, who quickly gave the same reply in regard to her own political ambitions. “Not my thing,” she said.
For this, I suppose, we should be grateful. After eight regrettable years of the Obamas, the last thing we need is Oprah Winfrey trying her hand at politics!
