President Trump is exposing the Democrats and their cohorts in the mainstream media. The truth is that just a few short years ago every one of the Democrats, who
Back in 2006, 80 U.S. Senators, including Senator Chuck Schumer himself, along with Senators Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bill Nelson, Debbie Stabenow, and many others supported a bill that authorized 700 miles of fencing on our southern border.
In the House, 64 Democrats voted for the 700 miles of border fencing, including then Rep. Sherrod Brown. In 2013, Democrats were fully on board for a border barrier. The Gang of Eight bill passed in the Senate with 68 votes, including unanimous Democratic support.
Name any Democrat who is in the Senate today who was there for that 2013 vote on building a border wall — Schumer, Durbin, Murray, Baldwin, Bennet, Blumenthal, Brown, Cantwell, Cardin, Casey, Coons, Feinstein, Gillibrand, Hirono, Kaine, Klobuchar, Leahy, Manchin, Menendez, Merkley, Murphy, Reed, Sanders, Shaheen, Stabenow, Tester, Warner, Warren, Whitehouse, Wyden — name any, and they voted for the bill that included the Southern Border Fencing Strategy.
And who was the president in 2013? Yep, Barack Obama. He would have signed that bill if the GOP had not have blocked it. They blocked it because it also had amnesty-like conditions for illegals. The bill would have given a provisional legal status to illegal immigrants who did not have criminal records, reported the Washington Examiner.
Then, Wikileaks released an internal memo in November 2016 from Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign that revealed his support for fencing along the border, according to the Daily Caller.
So what changed? How did these Democrats go from supporting a “fence” to being adamantly against it?
That’s exactly what President Trump is pointing out as he expertly trolled Barack Obama with 3 words. The president found a 2011 tweet by Barack that said, “I strongly believe that we should take on, once and for all, the issue of illegal immigration. #SOTU.”
Obama is referring to his “State of the Union” speech he gave in January 2011. President Trump retweeted Obama’s post and added, “I totally agree!”
So what explanation can the former president give? What happened between 2013 and 2018 to make him do a complete 180 degree turn around on the wall?
Folks, this government shutdown over funding the border wall is political theater. The Democrats could care less about adding a measly $5 billion dollars to the Continuing Resolution to fund a wall, or fence, or whatever they want to call it.
“Many observers have noted that the Democratic Party has changed dramatically in the last half-dozen years or so, and one of the areas in which that change has been most pronounced is immigration. On that issue, the party has moved far to the left, “ reported Fox News Contributor Byron York.
“And now the Democratic position appears to have hardened further still. Earlier this month, Nancy Pelosi called a border wall ‘immoral,'” added York. “How could her party make any deal to support, even a little bit, something her colleagues believe is immoral? It is unclear whether Pelosi thinks all the barriers currently in place on the U.S.-Mexico border are immoral, but it seems clear that she would never support any new ones.”
The sad truth of it is the Democrats would have passed the measly $5 billion dollar wall funding if it was not linked to the success of the Trump campaign. Remember, the only thing the Democrats and their cohorts in the leftist media care about is smearing and stopping President Trump.
Hopefully, by exposing their blatant hypocrisy to the American people, those who aren’t well-informed will realize the Democrats are risking American lives in favor of playing politics. It’s the swamp rats versus President Trump, and I will put my money on our president all day long.
