The billionaire celebrity is also sending the baby a huge gift. However, Oprah was caught claiming she’s “so proud” of Meghan and then goes on to describe all the ways she’s caused the Queen Elizabeth distress. Well, Winfrey got blasted badly for her remarks. As of this writing, the world is still waiting to hear if Meghan Markle’s baby has been delivered. And now we have Oprah Winfrey weighing in about Meghan Markle’s many decisions to go against protocols of the Britsh Monarch.
“Oh my God! I’m so proud of her decisions,” Winfrey marveled. “To be able to stand up and say this is what I really want for my baby and my family and now I’m going to do it a different way when it’s been done that way for a thousand years? I’m just so proud of her.”
Oprah added she’s proud Meghan’s able to “stand [up for] what works for her and Harry, and what is the truth for them, how they’re going to raise their baby.”

The media mogul is referring to Markle bucking Royal Family traditions. According to the Daily Mail, even though the former D-list actress is considered to be a “high-risk” pregnancy at 37-years-old and never giving birth before, she’s opting to give birth at home. She is also reportedly not planning on using the services of the Queen’s doctors, who are rated the best in Britain.
Markle, who never met a photo op she didn’t like, is refusing to take the traditional post-pregnancy photo with the newborn. Markle told the Britsh people she and Prince Harry had “taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.”
Oprah finds this all refreshing and calls this bucking of tradition a result of Markle and Prince Harry standing in “what is the truth for them.” Causing the Queen all this distress from the backlash by the British people over Markle revolting against the way it’s been done for “1,000-years,” seemingly makes Oprah “so proud.”
Winfrey added, “I think it does a lot for all the women who are trying to keep up [with the pressure put on new moms].” But Meghan Markle isn’t a private citizen nor is she a typical new mom.
Meghan knew what she was buying when she married Prince Harry. The British Royal Family exists to serve the British people who contribute taxes to pay for their upkeep. Meghan isn’t a trailblazer. She isn’t standing in her “truth,” whatever that means. She’s taking “1,000 years” worth of British tradition and spitting in its face.
And it’s not just this debacle surrounding the baby, or leaking she wants to raise the baby “gender fluid,” or the home birth, or the post-pregnancy photos. From day one Markle has been causing as much mayhem inside the Royal Family as she can, and it puts the 93-year-old Queen in a bad spot. This isn’t something she should be commended for. No wonder the British people are fed up.

Oprah did say she is giving the baby Sussex a gift. “Oh, honey … I have a standard gift that I do for people that I really care about,” she told Access Hollywood on Tuesday. “So I don’t know the baby’s name or the baby’s gender, but this baby will have enough books to last a lifetime!”
Oprah’s standard baby gift is a hand-carved bookcase containing hundreds of classic kids books. While it’s nice Winfrey is sending a gift, it is also true she really doesn’t know Meghan that well. As far as we can tell, she met her on the day of her wedding and hasn’t seen her since.
Oprah is interested in getting exclusive interviews with the former cable TV actress and is also working with Prince Harry on a docuseries about mental health. It’s business for Oprah Winfrey. Yet, for the British people who love the Royal Family and their Queen, Meghan Markle’s disrespect for their culture and traditions won’t be forgotten or forgiven any time soon.
