Chick-fil-A is known for making national headlines for their stance on many controversial topics. However, on the day of the tragic Orlando shootings, Chick-fil-A decided to do something a bit unexpected by many. Now, some are even trying to sweep it under the rug.
Many Americans were devastated when they heard about the tragic shootings at the gay club in Orlando, Florida. Although this incident seemed like a hot topic to make a public statement over, Chick-fil-A chose to keep silent. However, what a few Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Orlando area did for gays has been kept quiet – but not for the reason you might think.
Chick-fil-A is known for not being open on Sunday. However, once employees at a few Chick-fil-A locations heard the tragic news, they immediately stepped up and got busy making “hundreds of their famous chicken sandwiches” and “brewed dozens of gallons of sweet tea,” according to attorney Kevin Hayslett.
What’s truly astonishing is who received the sandwiches and sweet tea at the One Blood donation center. They handed out the food to the lines that were filled with people who were predominately gay and people who were there to donate their blood to help the victims at the nightclub.
Considering how Chick-fil-A is known for its Christian values, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that the company’s founders don’t approve of the gay lifestyle. However, because of their religion and compassion, they knew they needed to step up and show what Christians do for any of God’s children during a time of crisis – they help. Just like the Bible says, love the sinner, hate the sin.
The media hasn’t been reporting what these Chick-fil-A employees have been doing – all because it doesn’t benefit the liberal agenda of vilifying Christians. It’s our job as Americans (and Christians) to share this story so more people can see what God can do when he works through others.
The beauty of Christianity is that our Lord and Savior is a forgiving God who simply wants His followers to share His word and spread love. That’s exactly what Chick-fil-A did this weekend, and there’s no way their kind actions should go unnoticed.
