Democrats Refuse To Give Trump $5 Billion, Mexican Prez Humiliates Them

As the Democrats refuse to give President Donald Trump the $5 billion he needs to finish the border wall, his counterpart south of the border announced a genius plan. Mexico recently elected a new president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, and he just delivered a bitter dose of humiliation to Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. This is perfect.

The newly-elected president of Mexico is stepping up in a big way to curb illegal immigration from his country to the United States. He plans to do so by bolstering the economies of notoriously poor towns along Mexico’s northern border, where residents are most tempted to leave the country in hopes of making a better life.

Newly elected Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador intends to curb immigration into the United States by economically developing his country’s northern states.

Loprez Obrador — who entered office in the beginning of December with a leftist agenda — on Monday decreed lower rates for income and value-added taxes in over 40 municipalities that border the U.S. The minimum wage within these municipalities will also be risen to 177 pesos — equivalent to $9 — beginning in 2019. Lopez Obrador also plans new infrastructure projects and more social welfare programs to benefit Mexican citizens.

“This is a very important project to boost investment and job creation,” Lopez Obrador said during a Saturday event in the northern state of Nuevo Leon, according to Reuters.

The ambitious agenda is meant to bolster the economic standing of towns and cities dotted along Mexico’s northern border, the forefront of America’s illegal immigration crisis. Lopez Obrador, facing extreme pressure from his northern neighbor, has pledged to reduce migration into the U.S., and hopes to do so by enhancing his citizens’ quality of life. Lopez Obrador’s commitment to curbing illegal immigration is in stark contrast to the initiative Democratic lawmakers have shown on the issue during our own government shutdown.

We are now nearly two weeks into a partial government shutdown over border security, and the Democrats appear content to let it go on forever, so long as they don’t have to pay for a border wall that would solve 99 percent of our immigration issues instantaneously.

Heck, we can’t even get our own politicians to show up for work during the shutdown:

Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi is spending the government shutdown at a luxury resort in Hawaii, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Pelosi, who has put blame squarely on President Donald Trump for the current government shutdown, was spotted Thursday vacationing in Hawaii at the Fairmont Orchid resort, where room accommodations range from $899-a-night for a standard room to $4,899-a-night for the presidential suite.

The resort, on Hawaii’s Big Island, features a golf course, six restaurants, and a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront pool. It also features a “Spa Without Walls,” where the 110-minute Ali’i Royal Experience is available for $369 and a 50-minute couples massage runs $549, according to the spa menu. While at the spa, guests can snack on a gluten-free grilled prawn summer roll for $19. [Source: The Washington Free Beacon]

It’s pretty pathetic when the president of Mexico makes fighting illegal immigration a major part of his agenda and we can’t even get our own lawmakers to fork over $5 billion to finish the border wall.

The Mexican president is doing his part. Now, perhaps Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer should do theirs.
