America still mourns over the horrible shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. It’s been five years, but many still feel the pain. Events like this require the country to look for solutions, but the solutions are never easy. Unless, of course, you’re CNN. One of their hosts made a shockingly bogus claim about the years following Sandy Hook, and it’s all to push for gun control.
The United States is one of the few countries that protect gun rights. Most nations forbid their citizens from owning guns, one way or another, but our Bill of Rights guarantees we can own firearms. It’s something that liberals cannot stand.
Citizens empowered by the Second Amendment threaten the left. Why? Because those are citizens who care. They care enough to protect their homes and families. They care enough to vote. And, they care enough to hold politicians accountable.
We can’t have that, can we, CNN? Liberals want us to be blind sheep. They want us defenseless, dependent on the government. That’s why, time and again, they push bogus statistics to vilify gun ownership. That’s just what CNN’s Jim Acosta claimed earlier this week. He stated that since Sandy Hook, there have been over 1,000 mass shootings in the United States.
On December 14, 2017, CNN’s Jim Acosta claimed America has witnessed “1,552 mass shootings” since the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School.
This means Acosta is claiming an average of approximately 310 mass shootings a year for each of the past five years.
It is important to note that he attempts to bolster this claim via information provided by a tracking site sponsored by gun controllers. That tracking site–the Gun Violence Archive–diverges from FBI definition of a mass shooting as four fatalities or more in one incident so as to include shootings in which no fatalities occur. Since Sandy Hook there have been at least 1,552 mass shootings, with at least 1,767 people killed and 6,227 wounded. https://t.co/RZeFDHhYmR

Did you hear about all of these “mass” shootings? Of course not. Acosta is distorting statistics, using the word mass to inflate these accounts. It’s meant to scare soft-brained idiots who actually believe CNN. He is trying to convince them that the only solution to these “mass” shootings is to eradicate the Second Amendment.
After all, if people don’t have guns, they can’t shoot each other, right?
Acosta neglects to share that much gun violence is perpetrated by criminals. These people cannot legally buy guns. Yet, they still get their hands on them. Do you think that would change with stronger gun control? Nope.
Acosta’s claim is so outlandish, even other liberals are skeptical.
For example, in December 2015 Breitbart News reported that Mother Jones’ editor Mark Follman called out leftists for claiming “355 mass shootings” in that calendar year alone. Follman published a column in the The New York Times, which said:
“At Mother Jones, where I work as an editor, we have compiled an in-depth open-source database covering more than three decades of public mass shootings. By our measure, there have been four ‘mass shootings’ this year, including the one in San Bernardino, and at least 73 such attacks since 1982.”
Note–using the actual FBI definition of mass shootings, Follman could only find four mass shootings for the entire year, yet leftists were claiming 355. [Source: Breitbart]
You know something’s wrong when Mother Jones has to be the voice of reason!
Why do liberals at CNN distort these numbers? Because they try to use emotion to drive policy. They want people panicking. If you think over 1,000 mass shootings have occurred in the last five years, you’d demand gun control immediately.
It’s the same way climate alarmists try to scare you with global warming. They want you terrified that the ice caps are melting, polar bears are dying, and it’s all your fault! Instead of basing their arguments on facts and statistics, they use manipulation, all to push policies that erode our Constitutional freedoms.
Acosta has expanded the numbers to make it seem like mass shootings are an epidemic, but he, like the groups providing the numbers, are creating fake news.
Think about it this way–It is easy to swell the number of car accidents recorded for a given year if butterflies hitting the windshield are counted as an accident. Moreover, it is easy to swell the number of falls recorded every year if stumbling without actually falling is counting as a fall nonetheless. [Source: Breitbart]
We cannot let CNN spread this kind of fake news. Americans deserve to know when they are being lied to. Be sure to spread this article to everyone you know. CNN wants to spread fear and hysteria. Let’s spread the truth.
