Rapist Snatches Would-Be Victim, Has No Idea What’s Waiting Around Corner

Jakub Kowalczyk, 35

In the early hours of the morning, as most citizens were soundly asleep in their beds, one sexual predator was on the prowl. When he spied what he believed would be the perfect victim, he snatched her up and tried to make off with her. However, he had no idea what was waiting just around the corner.

Intense body cam footage has captured the moment attempted rapist 35-year-old Jakub Kowalczyk was apprehended by authorities in London, England, after slinging a woman over his shoulder and trying to run off with her. Had it not been for the witnesses who happened to be in the right place at the right time, the woman likely would have become the victim of a heinous sex crime and, perhaps, even a murder.

In the wee hours of the morning on February 12, Kowalczyk pounced on his intended victim in the street and pinned her to the ground in a homeowner’s front yard garden. As the terrified woman cried out for help, people inside of a nearby house came out to find the source of the screaming.

Witnesses then discovered Kowalcyzk carrying out his sick attack in the bushes at about 1 a.m. One of the onlookers immediately phoned the police, as she could see that Kowalcyzk was trying to rape the woman.

Kowalczyk, 35, ran off, but officers gave chase and he was finally detained and arrested. Dramatic police footage shows the would-be rapist as he was arrested. The video then shows the moment they arrested him as he hid in bushes. The victim was not injured, but was left distressed and in need of medical help. [Source: Mirror]

“People alerted by the disturbance saw Kowalczyk emerge from the undergrowth carrying the sobbing victim over his shoulders,” said a Scotland Yard spokesman. “Another member of the public, who was passing on foot, shouted out at Kowalczyk and he stopped the attack and put the victim down. It was at this point that officers arrived and Kowalczyk was pointed out to them.”

Kowalczyk pleaded guilty to attempted rape and was jailed for six years at Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday.

“Kowalczyk carried out a terrifying attack on a lone and vulnerable woman,” commented DC Alan Wong, from the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command. “Thankfully members of the public heard her calls for help and called police and other members of the public directly challenged him,” Wong continued.

“I want to sincerely thank them for their assistance that night and the overwhelming evidence they subsequently provided,” added Wong. “As a result, Kowalczyk has now been brought to justice and deservedly imprisoned for this despicable act.”

Sometimes, all it takes is a good Samaritan to stand between the forces of evil lurking in this world and the innocent victims they intend to leave in their wake. Fortunately for the woman whom Jakub Kowalczyk tried to victimize, there was more than one good Samaritan nearby who intervened on her behalf on the night of February 12. Now, Kowalczyk is right where he belongs, and I hear they don’t take too kindly to rapists in prison.
