Enjoy.)NFL legend Burgess Owens, who is also a loyal supporter of President Donald Trump, showed up at the Democrats’ big reparation hearings today on Capitol Hill. He scoffed at Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and the Democrats, flatly telling them they should alone pay for the reparations. But that’s not all. The 67-year-old Hall of Famer was just getting started blasting the Democratic Party and their supporters. You’ll love this.
Burgess Owens agreed with the Democrats on just one thing: they should pay for slavery reparations. That’s right, just the Democratic Party alone. Owens went on to indict the Democrats as the party of hate.
During stirring testimony in front of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Reparations, Owens blasted the Democratic Party “for all the misery” they’ve brought to blacks; citing everything from the party’s support of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow laws, and abortion.
“Let’s point to the party that was part of slavery, KKK, Jim crow that killed over 40% of our black babies, 20 million of them. State of California, 75% of our black boys can’t pass standard reading and writing test. Democratic state. Let’s pay reparation. Let’s pay restitution. How about a Democratic Party pay for all the misery brought to my race,” said Owens.
Much of his testimony is from his recent article in the Wall Street Journal.
“I didn’t earn slavery reparations, and I don’t want them,” he said. The retired Oakland Raider told the story of how his great-great-grandfather, Silas Burgess, was able to achieve great success in America despite first arriving in the country as a slave.
The author of Why I Stand: From Freedom to the Killing Fields of Socialism went on to explain how his ancestor escaped slavery to become a successful entrepreneur, landowner, and family man who built his town’s first black church and first black elementary school.
“Now, because of him, a bunch of Democratic presidential hopefuls want to give me money,” wrote Owens. “Never mind that like Silas, I am an entrepreneur who has lived the American dream—having received a world-class education, built businesses, raised a remarkable family and, unlike most white Americans, earned a Super Bowl ring.”
“Because of work I’ve never done, stripes I’ve never had, under a whip I’ll never know, Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke, Elizabeth Warren and others want to give me free stuff. Never mind that it will be taken from others, who also dreamed, worked and sacrificed to earn it,” Owens added. “I wonder what great-great-grandpa Silas would think.”
Owens went on to decry the reparations movement in its entirety, calling it divisive, demeaning to both blacks and whites, and a notion which “demeans America’s founding ideals.”
This was all wrong for the pandering Democrats hoping to score cheap political points with these reparations hearings.
Grateful Americans were thrilled Burgess Owens stood up to the race-baiters like Rep. Steve Cohen, who was rude to him at the hearing. You remember Cohen, the guy who brought Kentucky Fried Chicken to the House hearing as a prop. Cohen was attempting to say AG Bill Barr was a chicken. Today, he refused to thank Burgess Owens for his testimony.

Speaking to Fox News on Tuesday, Owens reiterated, “Unfortunately, the left doesn’t see respect the way we see it. They will lie, steal and cheat to get what they think they deserve, which is somebody else’s property.”
Now, it’s all on the Congressional record. Burgess Owens had the guts to stand up and deliver the truth. His reward? He is now being cussed out by the far-leftist losers on social media. How dare Owens recount the historical facts. Let’s make sure we counteract all that hate by making sure we share the truth. We are sure Burgess Owens will thank everyone who gets this important story out. It’s the lest we can do.
