If ever there was a man you wouldn’t want to pick a fight with, it’d be Secretary of Defense James Mattis. In fact, a reporter learned just that after deciding to mouth off about the recent anti-Trump book to the retired Marine Corps general only for the “mad dog” to drop a brutal hammer – and that’s about the time the smug punk learned exactly how Mattis got his nickname.

With the United States Marines known to be the fiercest fighting force in the world, it’s safe to say that it takes a special kind of badass to lead such a group of warriors. Of course, Mattis was the perfect man to fit the bill, and he did his job well.

That’s probably why President Donald Trump thought Mattis would be perfect for the position of Secretary of Defense. Ever since Mattis was swiftly approved and sworn in, he has been doing incredible things to keep our country safe. However, the best part about Mattis are those times we get a brief glimpse of exactly how he earned the nickname “mad dog.”

Known for his quick one-liners, Mattis even shocked a smug reporter recently after the man decided to mouth off about the anti-Trump book by Michael Wolff titled “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” which claims to expose the alleged incompetency within the Trump White House.

Mad World News has since reported that the book is being exposed as nothing more than gossip and lies meant to damage Trump’s reputation, but that’s not all. Those willing to look close enough learn that Wolff even had to put a disclaimer in his book, which basically said that none of the claims had been verified and he just picked the juiciest gossip to fill the pages, admitting that many accounts conflict with each other.

Too bad for the reporter dumb enough to bring up the topic of the book to Mattis, well, let’s just say he learned the hard way not to be a moron. According to a U.S. Department of Defense news transcript, the reporter asked if Mattis had time to read the book yet.

Dropping a brutal hammer with quite the zinger, Mattis simply responded by saying, “No, I’m a little busy, these days, actually doing my job, you know?” In all, he simply implied that he has better and more important things to deal with than petty gossip.

Oddly enough, that answer wasn’t enough for the smug journalist, as IJ Review reports. “It’s a quick read,” the interviewer reportedly said. “I’m already halfway through it.”

That’s when Mattis simply looked the guy in the eye and mocked him, saying, “Yes, but you’re one of those literate intellectuals,” before the room erupted in laughter.

“If it’s a book with my name in it, the aide puts sticky – double stickies over it, so I don’t read about myself,” Mattis explained, since he doesn’t have time for nor does he concern himself with appealing to public approval and wasting his time with a book that admits it’s all gossip.

Instead, this is a guy who merely looks at a situation objectively and does what’s best for our country and those who live here, which is exactly why he was hired for the job. Mattis is a no-nonsense kind of guy and his initial remarks to this reporter prove exactly that.

If they want to try to catch a member of Trump’s administration in an “ah hah” moment, they’re going to have to look elsewhere because Mattis isn’t your guy. Then again, you have to be a special kind of stupid to cross the man that once said, “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”
