Senator Tells Gun Owner: Forget Fine, We’ll Just Take Your Firearms! — Regrets It

Illinois Senator Julie Morrison (D) taunted a concerned gun owner during a town hall by telling him she might forgo fining him and simply confiscate his firearms. She was downright rude and condescending, saying: “Maybe it’ll just be a confiscation and we won’t have to worry about paying the fine.” Well, that’s when she was really made to regret it. You’ll love this.

The exchange between Sen. Morrison and a very concerned gun owner was caught on video by the Illinois State Rifle Association and was tied to proposed fines for keeping commonly owned semiautomatic firearms in one’s home.

The concerned gun owner pointed to SB107 and said the purpose of it was “to take away [his] semiautomatic firearms.”

Morrison then interjected that the purpose was not to take them, but to prevent any future sales.

The gun owner responded by pointing out that the ban on future sales included a fine for current owners who did not hand their guns over. He said, “You want me to turn them over to the state police unless I pay a fine for each firearm and register them, then I get to keep them.”

Morrison concurred, saying, “Okay.”

The gun owner then asked, “If I get to keep it–if I pay a fine and register it–then, how dangerous is it in the first place and why do you need to ban it all?”

People in attendance applauded the gun owner’s point, and once the applause died, Morrison said, “Well, you just maybe changed my mind. Maybe we won’t have a fine at all, maybe it’ll just be a confiscation and we won’t have to worry about paying the fine.”

NRATV’s Cam Edwards commented on the exchange that drew Sen. Morrison into the light, where she openly talked confiscation. He described it as part of a larger “push-back” characterized by Second Amendment Sanctuary declarations in southern counties in Illinois.

Edwards said, “It’s been interesting to see this push-back in Illinois. Obviously, over the last few years we’ve seen a lot of counties outside of the Chicago-land area have been very vocal in pushing back. But I’ve got to tell you, I’ve been really impressed by the number of gun owners in northern Illinois…who have been speaking out.”

Patriots across the country who value their Second Amendment rights made it clear to this anti-gun senator no one is taking their guns.

“Citizens have a patriotic duty to fight against unconstitutional gun grabbers BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Period,” tweeted Hoosier Friend.

“That is a violation of the 2A. When the Constitution was constructed, there was no big government. Context matters, our forefathers were perfecting the citizens right’s not the establishment’s. Politicians don’t understand this simple idea,” tweeted Richard M. Simmons.

“She wants to confiscate our legal firearms while illegal aliens are allowed to drive, fly, vote, work, enroll in school with no paperwork or identification. The Left Hates Americans,” tweeted Twitter user “mSpirite.”

“Great idea…She’s can start ‘personally’ door to door on the south side of Chicago tomorrow,” tweeted Clay Gates.

“That sounded like a threat to me…Come & Take It,” tweeted Andrew Hinton.

The state of Illinois already has strict gun control. It also is home to one of the most violent cities in America: Chicago. This proves that gun control doesn’t work.

At least 72 people were shot, including 12 fatally, over one weekend in Chicago last summer, another eruption of violence in a city that has struggled with murders and shootings in recent years despite having strict gun control.

At the end of July 2018, the city had recorded more than 300 murders –more than any other U.S. city, but an improvement for Chicago. Murders were down 23% compared with the same point last year, and the city tallied 19% fewer shooting incidents, reported USA Today.

More than 300 murders is an improvement? The problem is law-abiding citizens can’t carry firearms, and we all know the criminals do. Maybe this snarky senator should be dropped off in the middle of the worst area in Chicago and see how long she lasts?

We bet she’ll be hoping and praying some good guy with a gun comes along to rescue her. Well, good luck Chicago and Illinois. It’s time you got rid of the anti-gun anti-Second Amendment joker named Senator Julie Morrison.
