It’s a new year, and 2018 is here. Many people have ambitious New Year’s resolutions. Much of the country is looking forward to a bright and prosperous year. But, as always, the United States faces challenges. How will 2018 shape up? Will it be a success for our country and government? Senator Lindsey Graham weighed in on that question. What he had to say startled many.
Last year brought massive changes to the United States. The first year of Donald Trump’s presidency transformed America as we know it. President Trump made good on numerous campaign promises. He slashed regulation. His administration cracked down on illegal immigration. Our military is striking back at ISIS. And, of course, our economy is roaring to life.
Yet, there are still plenty of problems waiting to be addressed. The liberal media continues to bash our President, despite a year of success. Beyond them, there are real threats facing the world. Perhaps none is direr than North Korea. This rogue nation has been promising to attack the United States and our allies for years. Recently, they’ve ramped up their missile testing. Rumors have leaked that they are developing biological weapons. Clearly, they must be stopped.
Senator Lindsey Graham addressed this growing threat. A strong believer in military operations, he predicted the President would be forced to act against North Korea. In no uncertain terms, Graham said 2018 will be a year of extreme danger.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday warned that 2018 will be a year of “extreme danger” as the United States faces mounting tensions with North Korea and Iran.
Graham, who recently predicted a 70-percent chance that Trump will use the military option against North Korea if the rogue regime conducts another nuclear test, said President Trump has drawn a line with dictator Kim Jong Un.
“He’s told the North Koreans, ‘I will deny you the capability to hit America with a nuclear-tipped missile.’ If they test another bomb, they’re closer to having that capability,” Graham said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “Now, the Iranians are watching us in North Korea. North Korea’s watching us in Iran. 2018 will be a year of opportunity and extreme danger.”
“We’ve got a chance here to deliver some fatal blows to some really bad actors in 2018. But if we blink, God help us all,” he continued. [Source: Fox News]
Graham is a staunch conservative, with a long record of serving the country. But, like his ally, John McCain, he is all too eager to see America in another conflict. Many regard him as a Bush-era Republican, whose views are not in line with our America First President. So, we have to look at his prediction for what it is, an outdated approached to foreign policy.
However, Graham is right on one thing: North Korea is a major threat. Decades of U.S. Presidents have ignored them. North Korea has only continued to develop weapons of mass destruction. Their leader has promised to destroy South Korea, Japan, and the United States. We cannot ignore them any longer.
In the past, sanctions have been able to keep North Korea in check. But, are they enough now?
Graham also warned that sanctions will never completely work against a dictator like Kim without the credible threat of military force.
“How do you change a man’s behavior who’s willing to kill his own family, torture his own people to stay in power?” Graham said. “The only way he’ll change his behavior [is] if he believes Donald Trump would use military force to destroy his regime. And the Iranians are watching how Trump deals with North Korea.” [Source: Fox News]
There is good evidence that economic sanctions are doing nothing. The pressure has not stopped North Korea from developing weapons. In fact, it looks like they are still able to get supplies. President Trump personally confronted China over allegations that they are smuggling resources into the rogue nation.
Caught RED HANDED – very disappointed that China is allowing oil to go into North Korea. There will never be a friendly solution to the North Korea problem if this continues to happen!

Black market smugglers laugh at sanctions. What good are they, when smugglers can get supplies into North Korea? The nation will get the resources it needs, while still threatening the region.
Does that mean military action is the only solution? It sounds like Graham is eager for that to be the case. President Trump has used strong language against North Korea, but will he fire missiles or send troops into the country? What will the fallout be, if the America First President drags us into another overseas conflict?
The scary reality is, we might not have a choice. If North Korea’s missiles are capable, they can strike numerous targets without warning. Millions of lives might be lost if we don’t act in time. We cannot afford to let North Korea attack our allies or our own people overseas.
It makes Graham’s prediction all the more realistic. 2018 will be a year of “extreme danger,” if we don’t act effectively.
