Christian Maire, who was busted by the FBI back in December, had just began his 40 year prison sentence in a federal prison for his disturbing crimes. But unfortunately for Marie, the inmates housed there had other plans, giving life to the old saying that there really is “honor among thieves.”
Maire, 40, of Binghamton, New York, was the mastermind of an international child exploitation ring, where 8 members of his child sex ring would hunt and manipulate young girls into performing sex acts online, by posing as teenage boys. In December, the FBI discovered that Marie was the ringleader behind a depraved Internet sex gang that was dubbed “The Bored Group.”
“Maire and his eight counterparts posed as adolescent boys on teenage dating sites and convinced young girls to strip, masturbate and perform other sex acts via webcam, according to investigators,” The NY Post reported.
“I’ve shattered so many lives,” Maire told U.S. District Judge Stephen Murphy. “I never thought I could sink this low. I apologize to all of my victims. I took advantage of your youth and trust and put my own selfishness above your dignity.”
Almost exactly one month after Marie and his counterparts were sentenced to prison, the child predator found himself on the receiving end of unspeakable torment, after several inmates attacked him with a homemade prison knife, known as a shiv, and issued a brutal and ruthless prison beating. Marie would die at a hospital several hours later from his injuries, with his lawyer declaring the beatdown a “horrible tragedy” that could’ve been avoided.
“It’s a horrible tragedy and it seems something like this should have been able to be avoided,” Maire’s lawyer Mark Kriger told the Detroit News on Friday.
For one of Marie’s victims, his fate did not come at all as a surprise. One of the exploited children, who is now 20, predicted the entire incident before it even happened. After hearing that the predator had received a 40-year prison sentence for his crimes, she told reporters, “that’s basically life…he’s gonna get the hell beat out of him.”
Prosecutors say that Marie handpicked all the members of his perverted sex ring, who all shared similar interests in girls, ranging from teens all the way down to infants.
The FBI has now opened a homicide investigation into Marie’s death, and the prison has been placed on “limited operational status” and has suspended visiting hours in light of the attack.
It has to be a comfort for the multitude of unnamed victims that Christian Maire and his band of child-preying degenerates will never be able to harm another child ever again. More than ever, we need to keep tabs on what our kids are doing online, as the sickness of child pornography increases in popularity, as our society’s morals continue to go down the toilet.
