A picture is going viral after a professional weightlifter posted a picture of himself wearing a shirt with the word “strong.” Although his physique is impressive, the real reason people love it so much is what’s underneath his belt.
David “The Beast” Douglas is a Marine Corps veteran and motivational speaker on top of a professional weightlifter, but above all else, he’s a loyal companion. Although she may not seem like much, little 12-year-old Lindsay plays a big part in David’s life – and his recent picture proves it.
One thing you have to understand about Lindsay is that she suffers from a rare disease called Progeria. The incurable disease makes her age 8-10 times faster than a normal person, and people who suffer from it usually only live to be about 13 years old.
The strongman actually calls Lindsay his “little sis” and a picture taken at a recent event in Minnesota shows just how much he cares. The image, which has since gone viral, depicts David and Lindsay walking hand in hand with two words displayed on his back.
With the word “strong” describing David, the second word simple reads “stronger” and has an arrow pointing to Lindsay. “People looked at me as strong when everything about her was stronger. Instead of putting those words off to the side, I decided to put it right on me to make the point even louder,” Douglas wrote as he described the picture taken at the HopeKids Minnesota Relentless fundraiser.
As can be seen, the image is making waves as it continues to spread around social media – and there’s no wondering why. Too often do we overlook those suffering from disease as weak when really they’re the strongest of us out there – and Lindsay is living proof of just that.
