The Democrat congressman from California has been trying to backpedal what he said. But one American held this liberal’s feet to the fire. In a word, Ted’s regretting what he proclaimed, big time.
Ted Lieu is a representative from California. He hasn’t had the best record on Capitol Hill. This is the same bozo who walked out during a moment of silence for the victims of a mass shooting at a Texas church in 2017. Clearly, this congressman has some warped priorities.
It came out during a CNN interview that this congressman — someone who helps in the crafting of laws from the United States — supports controlling Free Speech. He admitted that he can’t stop you from saying what you want, because of that pesky First Amendment. So, he urged tech platforms, like Google, Facebook, and Apple, to do it for him.
“I would love to be able to regulate the content of speech,” Lieu stated. “The First Amendment prevents me from doing so, and that’s simply a function of the First Amendment. But I think over the long run, it’s better that government does not regulate the content of speech. I would urge these private-sector companies to regulate better themselves, but it’s really nothing that I believe government can do.” [Source: Breitbart]
Wow. I’d never thought I would see the day when a U.S. Congressman would attack Free Speech. But this is pretty typical of liberals, these days.
Citing “hate speech,” they rail against one of our most fundamental freedoms. They would love to censor anyone they didn’t like — by accusing them of hate speech. And don’t think they haven’t tried. Across Europe, nations have imposed laws that prevent citizens from speaking their minds. Even in Canada, citizens don’t have true Free Speech.
This is the very reason we have the First Amendment, because our founding fathers knew men like Lieu would come along. But even though he admits he can’t throw you in jail from supporting President Trump, Lieu hopes he can urge “private-sector companies” to control what we can say.
This is like Big Brother 2.0. George Orwell worried about governments controlling citizens’ speech. But today, we have left-wing tech companies who spy on us with smart devices, ban controversial personalities, and can control what we say on their social networks.
Mark Dice, a libertarian commenter, took Lieu to task for his horrible agenda.
Naturally, the blowhard Democrat tried to shame Dice into silence.
But Dice wasn’t going to let Lieu get away with that load of horse manure.
When Ted Lieu tried to backpedal his terrible remarks, Dice pinned him to the wall.
That’s the double standard we see from Democrats. They’re very concerned with the rights of certain groups — to the point they’ll erode the rights of everyone else. Are you a Christian bakery? Sorry, but you have to make a cake for a gay wedding. Your religious rights are invalidated because gay people are more important than you (according to Democrats).
Looks like Lieu sees the corner he’s been backed into. Make no mistake, he’s going to try to polish his reputation — to make it look like he actually supports Free Speech.
But we know what he really believes. He hates the fact that conservatives can speak their mind. Lieu doesn’t want anyone right of center to be free to share their ideas. He’d rather live in a United States that polices our every thought — either by the government or by Facebook.
