As President Obama returns from his Hawaiian vacation, he promises to start immediately with rolling out executive orders on new gun control. News of Obama’s plans have outraged many pro-gun advocates, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
In response to Obama’s laser focus to override Congress on gun control, Governor Abbott sent Obama a tweet, making his views very clear. Governor Abbott included an image — a lone star with a canon and text reading, “Come And Take It.”

The Texas slogan “Don’t Mess With Texas” comes to mind. Starting January 1st, Texas’ new law letting licensed handgun owners to carry their weapons openly in public took effect.
Governor Abbott isn’t the only one sending strong messages via twitter to Obama on his gun control plans. Former Illinois Republican congressman turned radio host, Joe Walsh, posted this tweet:
On Monday, Obama, on his own, to go after guns.
It's war. Defy his executive actions. Time for Civil disobedience. https://t.co/DasTdwv9EQ

Walsh cites an article via CNN with the headline “President Barack Obama, Attorney General Loretta Lynch To Meet Ahead Of New Executive Orders On Guns.” The article highlights Obama’s usual rhetoric, but it is void of substance or any real particulars. In fact, Obama’s statements sound like propaganda to rile up the left ahead of the actual executive orders.
“Change, as always, is going to take all of us,” Obama said in his weekly address. “The gun lobby is loud and well organized in its defense of effortlessly available guns for anyone. The rest of us are going to have to be just as passionate and well organized in our defense of our kids. That’s the work of citizenship — to stand up and fight for the change that we seek.“
“We know that we can’t stop every act of violence,” Obama said. “But what if we tried to stop even one? What if Congress did something — anything — to protect our kids from gun violence?” [via CNN]
This is Obama’s classic “hope and change.” Then, there’s the irony in his statement “that’s the work of citizenship — to stand up and fight for the change that we seek.” Obama is making executive orders. There is no citizen’s working for anything here. It’s just the opposite. Obama is bypassing the sworn representatives we citizens sent to Washington.
Who is Obama speaking to in his statement on standing up and fighting for the change we seek? Who is standing up? Who is seeking this change? Again, Obama is using that famous pen, unilaterally signing laws into effect which have no consensus of the American people.
Is Obama delusional or crazy? Probably a little of both.
As this new year gets underway, we await warily the outcome of Obama’s new gun control executive orders. With the Constitution as our guide, our solace is knowing most Americans will not sit and watch the destruction of the Second Amendment.
These are not threats, they are facts. Americans are speaking out, making it crystal clear that this new wave of executive orders are unconstitutional and won’t stand the test of time.
