In the ongoing battle between conservatives and liberals, there is one state that is considered the gold standard for American values: Texas. This proud state has stood for conservative principles for generations. Its people embody many of the values that make America great: faith, family, and a healthy gun collection. That’s why one school’s recent, shocking demand of Congress is leaving Americans outraged since the implications won’t just effect that school or that state alone.
Sadly, this state isn’t as red as it seems. In one of the most conservative regions in the country, there is a growing tide of liberalism. Certain regions have been infiltrated by socialist-loving liberals, who are working to undermine the strong, Republican policies of the Lone Star State. And, I’m not just talking about Austin. What one school board has recently done is a smack in the face to all true, patriotic Texans.
According to Breitbart, a school board based in Fort Worth voted on a resolution to demand Congress protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. This is the program, launched by Obama, that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country if they entered while children. This loophole has allowed untold numbers of illegals and their parents to stay, protected from repercussions like deportation. It has also encouraged millions more to try to cross the border, hoping to exploit DACA.
One Texas school district not only supports Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), its school board urged Congress to continue the Obama-era executive amnesty program which the Trump Administration plans to phase out within six months.
On Tuesday night, the Fort Worth Independent School District board of trustees voted unanimously, 8-0, with one member absent, on a resolution that pledged support for the program, imploring Congress to find a “positive and permanent solution for DACA recipients.” [Source: Breitbart]
It may seem shocking that a state as conservative as Texas would be the place for such a protest. But, there are some very real issues that are making parts of the state turn blue. As a state that shares a border with Mexico, it regularly faces the problem of illegal immigrants. Texas is one of the first stops coyotes, drug runners, and other illegals reach when they cross the border. As such, Texas deals with plenty of trouble, especially in the South, with this constant influx of aliens.
You may be asking, “Doesn’t that mean they’re against illegal immigration?” Yes, many Texans and their leaders, want strong measures, including the wall, in order to stem the tide of illegals flooding their state. But, because of the many entering Texas, over time, they’ve been able to get sympathetic politicians elected to office. Because of the high number of Hispanic citizens in the state, both legal and illegal, these liberal politicians can pander for votes. Once in office, they’ve worked to push the illegal alien issue in their favor.
Fort Worth is a large city. Because of this, there is most likely a higher number of liberals, who are backing such toxic policies as DACA. Add to that the terrible trend of educators and school boards being controlled by liberal unions, and it’s no wonder they support illegal immigration.
Even the Fort Worth ISD Superintendent, Kent Paredes, came out in support of DACA. In a Facebook post, he espoused the goal of educating all students, skirting past the fact that many of those students are not supposed to be here.
Fort Worth ISD is committed to preparing ALL students for success in college, career, and community leadership. In February of this year, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution that supports Dreamers.
If the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Act (DACA) is allowed to expire, it would have a devastating effect on members of the Fort Worth ISD family. Current high school seniors who have college within reach could be forced to alter their post-secondary plans. Our graduates currently in college may not be able to successfully move their lives forward. The impact this decision will have on many students and their families in the Fort Worth ISD community will be far-reaching. [Source: Facebook]
Sorry, Kent, but if those “dreamers” came here illegally, they don’t have a right to an American education. What about all those immigrants who followed the rules and came to the U.S. the right way? By protecting DACA and illegals, you are spitting in the face of every immigrant who is doing it the right way.
Illegal immigration is a burden on our society. Illegals are willing to work for lower pay because they don’t pay taxes and are supplemented by government programs — programs whose leaders look the other way. They use tax-funded services like public schools, without paying into the system. Some are even eligible for scholarships to go to college — when legal citizens are forced to pay out of their pockets.
Now, we know that illegal immigrants are costing the country over $100 billion dollars a year, while only putting in $19 billion.
The swelling population of illegal immigrants and their kids is costing American taxpayers $135 billion a year, the highest ever, driven by free medical care, education and a huge law enforcement bill, according to the most authoritative report on the issue yet.
And despite claims from pro-illegal immigration advocates that the aliens pay significant off-setting taxes back to federal, state and local treasuries, the Federation for American Immigration Reform report tallied just $19 billion, making the final hit to taxpayers about $116 billion. That proves that people who want to protect illegal immigrants, through DACA or other means, are actually supporting something that harms America on almost every level. Unfortunately, that’s not a huge surprise, though. Harming America is what liberals do best.
