More Winning! Trump’s 2019 Budget Plan Will Put The Hurt On These Liberal Institutions

This week, President Donald Trump released his budget plan for 2019. Among the many cost-saving goals, he plans on reducing funds to certain liberal institutions that will have the left squealing. Patriots, start your cheering!

Agreeing to a federal budget seems impossible. We’re talking about getting a bunch of crooks to limit their own rampant spending. The trend has always been to increase the amount they take from us. Even Republicans like writing blank checks.

The only problem, of course, is that they’re spending our money.

The shrewd and unrelenting businessman that is Donald Trump won’t stand for that. He’s vowed to protect vital services Americans rely on. That generally means the military. Everything else is poised for major cutbacks. Taxpayers deserve relief, and the government needs to go on spending diet.

In his latest budget plan for 2019, Trump has targeted numerous groups that deserve a much-need reduction in funds. That includes organizations that do nothing but spread toxic, liberal propaganda. His latest plan describes a cutback in funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which produces PBS and the dreaded NPR.

President Donald Trump’s 2019 budget includes a proposal that would eliminate federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), according to a report…

“To conduct an orderly transition away from Federal funding, the Budget requests $15.5 million in 2019 and $15 million in 2020, which would include funding for personnel costs of $16.2 million, rental costs of $8.9 million; and other costs totaling $5.4 million,” according to the proposal…

CPB received $445 million in federal funding, according to the most recent data available from the organization. Those federal funds made up 15 percent of PBS funding and ten percent of funding for NPR radio broadcasting. [Source: Breitbart]

I’m sure some of you choked when you saw just how much these programs receive from the government. That’s $445 million; all from taxpayers. Are you happy to know that your hard-earned bucks are going to support LGBT programming on PBS? Or that your money is helping sponsor Socialist propaganda on NPR shows?

Most Americans don’t even listen to these programs. Even Sesame Street is backed by HBO these days. So, why are we paying to support them?

Of course, CPB is freaking out.

Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of CPB, released a statement Monday decrying Trump’s plan to defund CPB.

“Since there is no viable substitute for federal funding that would ensure this valued service continues, the elimination of federal funding to CPB would at first devastate, and then ultimately destroy public media’s ability to provide early childhood content, life-saving emergency alerts, and public affairs programs, Harrison said.” [Source: Breitbart]

Excuse me, if this corporation has a CEO, why is it called “public”? Clearly, it is run like a private business these days, yet they still pretend to be a company “for the people.” I guess they are — if by people they mean granola-crunching hippies in San Francisco.

Harrison’s panic-ridden response shows you how arrogant and self-absorbed this organization really is. In this day and age, she thinks CPB is the only source for childhood content, life-saving emergency alerts, and public affairs programs.

Apparently, she’s never heard of YouTube, text alerts, or local news. And, we can all agree we’d be better off without their “public affairs programs,” unless you want to watch Rick Steves explain why Europe is better than America.

This is typical of bureaucrats. They ignore the fact that they are largely funded by private donations. Government funds amount to only a percentage of their resources. A cut would mean very little, in terms of providing content for their viewers. Perhaps they’d have to tighten their own budgets. Oh, my goodness! We can’t have that!

The fact remains that our government should not be spending our money to fund the arts. Let citizens decide what kind of programming they want to support. If they want liberal dogma shoved in their faces, then so be it. They can write checks to keep those programs going. The rest of us? Yeah, I’ll stick with better content.

What do you think? Should the government shell out millions on content you don’t enjoy? What should be the government’s role in funding the arts and television? Let us know what you think as you share this with others.
