On Wednesday, President Donald Trump revealed to stunned reporters who he was with on Christmas evening before making the long trip to visit our troops in Iraq.

According to The Daily Caller, President Donald Trump revealed to reporters Wednesday afternoon what he did on Christmas when he was in the White House.

“I was here on Christmas evening, I was all by myself in the White House. That’s a big, big house. Except for all the guys out on the lawn with machine guns… I was waving to them. I never saw so many guys with machine guns in my life. Secret Service and military. These are great people,” Trump began.

He added, “They don’t play games. They don’t like [to] wave. They don’t even smile. But I was there all alone with the machine gunners. I felt very safe. I have to tell you. Great people. There’s a lot of them. But I was hoping that maybe somebody would come back and negotiate.”

The president scrapped his vacation to Florida and remained at the White House in the event Congress came to an agreement to end the partial government shutdown. Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump was in Florida on Christmas Eve, but she returned to Washington to spend Christmas Day with her husband.

Of course, the Democrats have not been so committed to reaching a compromise which would reopen the government. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), for example, was partying at a bar instead of negotiating a deal in the hours before the shutdown was initiated.

Then, she jetted off to Hawaii to enjoy a lavish holiday vacation last week:

Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi, who has put blame squarely on President Donald Trump for the current government shutdown, was spotted Thursday vacationing in Hawaii at the Fairmont Orchid resort, where room accommodations range from $899-a-night for a standard room to $4,899-a-night for the presidential suite.

The resort, on Hawaii’s Big Island, features a golf course, six restaurants, and a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront pool. It also features a “Spa Without Walls,” where the 110-minute Ali’i Royal Experience is available for $369 and a 50-minute couples massage runs $549, according to the spa menu. While at the spa, guests can snack on a gluten-free grilled prawn summer roll for $19. [Source: The Washington Free Beacon]

It should also be noted that prominent Republicans like White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz cannot even go out for a meal with their families without being run out of restaurants by radical leftists. If Sanders, Cruz, or any of their colleagues had tried to embark on a lavish vacation during the government shutdown, they would never live it down, much less be able to enjoy themselves thanks to the inevitable mob of liberals who would make their trip unbearable.

But Nancy Pelosi, on the other hand, has received no backlash at all from the media or the political left over her Hawaiian vacation at such an inopportune time. Can you even imagine the blowback Trump would face if he tried to take a vacation right now? The double-standard at play here is impossible to ignore.

How sad that President Donald Trump could not spend the Christmas holiday with his family, all because of the stubbornness of the Democrats. Please show our hard-working Commander-in-Chief your support by sharing this information with your friends on social media.
