Trump Warned San Juan Mayor & She Didn’t Listen — Now He’s Sending In The Feds

The Trump-hating Mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, has been running her mouth again, making the rounds on late night television shows to condemn the Trump administration’s hurricane response. However, it looks like the only talking she’ll be doing in the near future is to the feds, and she only has herself to blame.

Puerto Rico was hit hard by 2017’s tropical storm season. With Hurricane Maria striking just two weeks after Hurricane Irma made landfall, the island was left without power, creating a slew of other issues. Puerto Ricans didn’t have clean drinking water and other necessities; many did not even have a way to contact loved ones who were worried about their safety.

The situation on the island was dire. The only thing that could have made it worse was a leftist politician with the habit of politicizing a tragedy. Enter Caren Yuliz Cruz, the Mayor of San Juan.

While Governor Ricardo Rossello was very thankful for U.S. aid efforts and complimentary of the overwhelming support President Donald Trump offered Puerto Rico in the face of this crisis, the same cannot be said for Mayor Cruz, a terrorist-sympathizing, Hillary Clinton supporter.

You might remember this widely spread clip:

Cruz infamously blamed Trump for the destruction her people faced and claimed that FEMA had offered no help. That could not have been further from the truth, and it has since been alleged that Cruz actually stopped necessary aid from getting to the people of Puerto Rico simply to make the Trump administration look bad. She won’t be able to get away with her dirty deeds for much longer, though.

According to The Daily Wire, early on Tuesday morning, the FBI raided government offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico, including the office of San Juan’s mayor, looking for evidence to substantiate allegations of “corruption” within San Juan’s city government:

Cruz, of course, is the outspoken San Juan mayor who appeared regularly on television during and after Hurricane Maria last year, blaming the Trump administration for failing to address the situation in Puerto Rico. Cruz even donned a “Nasty Woman” shirt in one interview.

However, as administration officials have pointed out, many of the problems rescuers faced were the result of local failures, including a lack of infrastructure, government favoritism, and rampant corruption. Cruz and others are alleged to have hampered, the distribution of much-needed supplies to Puerto Ricans without food, water, medicine, or electricity.

“We are seeking documents and evidence that support this allegation,” an FBI spokesman told reporters. “This search will help us confirm if allegations are true or not. We will look through every document, bill, email … anything that will let us clarify the claims.”

Cruz commented on the raid on Twitter, pledging her “total collaboration” with the FBI’s investigation. “If someone has done something wrong, they should be subjected to due process and face the consequences of their actions,” she wrote.

She could very well find herself in that boat, as the FBI’s investigation centers around Cruz and her allies in the San Juan city government:

The administration of the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, who shot to international fame after criticizing President Trump for not doing enough to help Hurricane Maria victims, is being investigated by the FBI on corruption charges, according to a local news outlet.

Finally, the FBI is getting to the bottom of exactly what is going on in San Juan. If Mayor Cruz has been withholding aid from the desperate people of Puerto Rico, she ought to be held accountable to the full extent of the law.
