Dolly Parton was put on the hot seat by Billboard Magazine. They asked the country icon about Black Lives Matter. Her answer is confusing many conservative fans, while others note she stopped short of supporting BLM. Don’t miss this.
Dolly Parton has weighed in on the Black Lives Matter debate, offering an apolitical answer that seems designed to avoid controversy over the far-left, anti-police group and keep her in good graces with the media and her fans.
While many are saying they wished she would have spoken out against BLM, the leftwing CNN jumped on her statement claiming: “Country singer Dolly Parton is making it clear that she supports Black Lives Matter.”
“I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen,” Parton told the magazine. “And of course black lives matter. Do we think our lilly white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”
We should note Dolly was saying “black lives” do matter, not the organization “Black Lives Matter.”
Dolly also addressed when leftists came for her dinner attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Back in August 2017, a BLM activist targeted her dinner theater which was called “The Dixie Stampede.” Parton tried to hold out against their attacks, but sometime in 2018 she just changed the name to “Dolly Parton’s Stampede.”
“When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought, ‘Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it The Stampede,’ ” she said. “As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumbass. That’s where my heart is.”
Billboard Magazine fails to tell us what sparked Parton’s remarks on “black lives,” but they take the liberty of claiming she supports BLM.
“Parton hasn’t attended any recent marches, but she is unequivocal in her support of protestors and the Black Lives Matter movement,” they report. We wonder if Dolly or her handlers will clarify that statement.
Dolly has tried to stay out of politics. But it appears that is getting more difficult.
“First of all, I’m not a judgmental person. I do believe we all have a right to be exactly who we are, and it is not my place to judge,” she says. “All these good Christian people that are supposed to be such good Christian people, the last thing we’re supposed to do is to judge one another. God is the judge, not us. I just try to be myself. I try to let everybody else be themselves.”

However, conservative Americans are confused by her latest remarks.
“Nobody is saying black lives don’t matter, but to say that one life matters over another is ridiculous. #AllLivesMatter #KAG,” tweeted James Whitty.

“Does DOLLY also support their effort to supplant capitalism (been good to Dolly) for Marxism? Dolly is either misinformed or has been fooled by the way reporters ask questions to elicit the answer they want to print. It’s not a simple country song Dolly, but a complex issue!” tweeted David M Lowe.

Should we give Dolly Parton the benefit of the doubt when it comes to BLM?
We can respect that Parton has done a good job of just trying to entertain us. She really does not want to become political like so many in the Hollywood crowd. However, she may have to clarify those remarks. Someone needs to take her aside and explain what BLM is all about.
It’s probably safe to assume the majority of her fans lean to the right politically. This is one of the very few times Parton has stumbled into the murky political waters confusing her fans. Oh, please, Dolly, tell us it isn’t so. Tell us you do not support an organization that is out to destroy our nation.
