Jerry Nadler Says Antifa Violence In Portland Is ‘A Myth’ – Gets Reality Check

Rep. Jerry Nadler was put in the hotspot by one conservative reporter who asked him to “disavow” the Antifa violence and rioting in Portland, Oregon. Nadler quickly responded: “That’s a myth.” Well, that’s when poor Jerry got a big reality check he never saw coming. Don’t miss this.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, called the violent riots, which have destroyed property and injured numerous law enforcement officers, “a myth” on Sunday

“It is true. There’s violence across the whole country,” reporter Austen Fleccas said to Nadler. “Do you disavow the violence from Antifa that’s happening in Portland right now? There’s riots—”

“That’s a myth that’s being spread only in Washington, DC,” Nadler said.

“I was disappointed in Mr. Nadler,” Fletcher told the Daily Caller. “Downplaying it is one thing but pretending it doesn’t exist, especially when the clips are going viral on social media, shows me where his priorities really are. Anything to maintain the narrative.”

This is diametrically opposed to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) assessment of the situation in Portland.

“The violent situation Portland has witnessed for the past eight weeks continues with violent anarchists rioting on the streets as federal law enforcement officers work diligently and honorably to enforce federal law, defend federal property, and protect the lives of their fellow officers,” DHS said in a statement issued on Sunday.

“As federal officers left the courthouse to respond to attacks on the fence, just like on previous nights they were met by rioters with hard projectiles, mortar style fireworks and lasers that can cause permanent blindness. Over the previous 24 hours, such assaults have resulted in at least 14 federal officers injured.”

The Blaze reporter who was on the scene also posted video proof from over the weekend: “Portland has divulged into a war zone! Battlefield Antifa hits new extreme. Barrier has been destroyed. Never seen such force from either side. I’ve now been hit by 2 gas canisters and a rubber bullet right to the crotch. In pain, absolute chaos.”

Americans “disavowed” Nadler’s take and blasted him as a Democrat liar.

“If the Jerry Nadler and the Democrats’ strategy is to pretend like Antifa and Black Lives Matter violence is ‘a myth,’ then it’s incumbent on conservatives on social media to summarily disprove it. The left abhors the truth. Bring it to them harder,” tweeted J.D. Rucker.

“Jerry Nadler and the radical left thinks Americans are dumb. His statement is demeaning to us that can think for ourselves and know what they are hiding. Stop the violence! Jerry Nadler says Antifa violence in Portland a ‘myth’ – Washington Times,” tweeted “Alpha Gruber.”

“There is nothing ‘peaceful’ about throwing commercial-grade fireworks at law enforcement. This is criminal,” tweeted CBP Mark Morgan, who is the Senior Official performing the duties of the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“I witnessed Antifa throw a Molotov cocktail on DHS agents tonight in Portland. Is this the ‘myth’ you’re referring to?” tweeted “Elijah Riot.”

Conservative reporter Andy Ngo, who was hit by bricks by Antifa last year, has been on the scene in Portland.

After midnight on July 27, Ngo tweeted: “Antifa rioters are throwing Molotov cocktails toward federal officers at the courthouse. Earlier in the day, police found a cache of ready-made incendiary devices and fully loaded magazines. Video by @livesmattershow. #PortlandRiots.”

One of America’s most famous playwrights, David Mamet, had a famous saying about the Democrats.

“In order for Democrats, liberals, progressives et al, to continue their illogical belief systems, they have to pretend not to know a lot of things…by pretending ‘not to know’ there is no guilt, no actual connection to conscience. Denial of truth allows easier trespass,” Mamet is quoted as saying.

Protests and riots have engulfed Portland for two months. Protesters have clashed with police, tore down fencing protecting the federal courthouse, and shined lasers at police, and police have fired tear gas and pepper spray.

However, we know “grassroots” protesters cannot sustain a 50-day siege to a city. These are professional protesters, and those on the scene have identified them as Antifa. They are dressed in their own riot gear and wear all black. These are not residents of Portland, either.

The majority have been bused in by Antifa. For the Democrats to refuse to disavow Antifa’s violence and call it a “myth” just goes to show you how far they are willing to go to win the election in November. They’d rather see American cities destroyed along with law-abiding citizens lives destroyed than admit these protesters are violent and the president has a duty to stop them.
