Millions of hard-working taxpayers were stunned when they learned that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had left Washington, D.C. in the middle of a government shutdown in order to jet off to Hawaii for a lavish holiday vacation. President Donald Trump’s White House counselor Kellyanne Conway was among those who were rightfully disgusted, and over the weekend, she went on television to destroy Pelosi.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) does not seem too concerned about the current government shutdown. First, she was caught on video partying at a bar instead of working diligently to negotiate a deal in the hours before the shutdown was initiated.

Then, she jetted off to Hawaii to enjoy a lavish holiday vacation last week:

Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi is spending the government shutdown at a luxury resort in Hawaii, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Pelosi, who has put blame squarely on President Donald Trump for the current government shutdown, was spotted Thursday vacationing in Hawaii at the Fairmont Orchid resort, where room accommodations range from $899-a-night for a standard room to $4,899-a-night for the presidential suite.

The resort, on Hawaii’s Big Island, features a golf course, six restaurants, and a 10,000-square-foot oceanfront pool. It also features a “Spa Without Walls,” where the 110-minute Ali’i Royal Experience is available for $369 and a 50-minute couples massage runs $549, according to the spa menu. While at the spa, guests can snack on a gluten-free grilled prawn summer roll for $19. [Source: The Washington Free Beacon]

This was in stark contrast to the way President Donald Trump and his staff have rearranged their own holiday plans in the wake of the shutdown:

President Donald Trump’s White House counselor Kellyanne Conway took a shot at House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday, calling out the top Democrat for going on a lavish Hawaiian vacation while the president remains in Washington, D.C. in hopes to work out a deal to end the partial government shutdown.

After President Trump canceled his Christmas plans over the shutdown, his acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney announced he would be canceling his New Year’s trip to Mar-a-Lago as well. Meanwhile, Pelosi was spotted soaking up the sun at a luxurious resort after she and other Congressional Democrats left town. [Source: IJR]

Joining “Fox News Sunday,” Conway tore into Pelosi and other Democrats unwilling to budge on the president’s call to fund the building of a wall along our southern border.

“Nancy Pelosi needs to come back from Hawaii. Less hula, more moola for the [the Department of Homeland Security] and Customs and Border Patrol, funding our border security,” said Conway. “They need to come to the table and do their job. A fully functioning democracy demands that both parties come together and that the Congress and the executive branch work together.”

Perhaps Pelosi could care less about the government shutdown because it’s not affecting her own pocketbook. Congress conveniently passed legislation that would allow for them to continue being paid in the event of a shutdown, even as other “essential” government employees go without their own paychecks.

It should also be noted that prominent Republicans like White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz cannot even go out for a meal with their families without being run out of restaurants by radical leftists. If Sanders, Cruz, or any of their colleagues had tried to embark on a lavish vacation during the government shutdown, they would never live it down, much less be able to enjoy themselves thanks to the inevitable mob of liberals who would make their trip unbearable.

But Nancy Pelosi, on the other hand, has received no backlash at all from the media or the political left over her Hawaiian vacation at such an inopportune time.
