Tlaib told the Detriot press that the House could jail witnesses and allies of President Donald Trump who are refusing to testify. Well, that’s when Tlaib got hit with the cold hard truth and was made to regret her remarks. You’ll love this.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib reminded us once again why she has no business being a member of Congress. Part of this charade the Democrats are conducting on Capitol Hill, claiming it’s an impeachment inquiry, are the mainstream media reports that White House officials are denying subpoenas to testify.
Rashida Tlaib echoed the mainstream media’s reporting and took it up a notch by saying Congress is thinking seriously about locking up White House officials who refuse to testify.
“If they were to detain someone, where would they go and have them detained so that they can comply with the subpoenas?” Tlaib said in an interview Saturday with Deadline Detroit at United Auto Works Local 600 in Detroit.
“There have been actual serious conversations about what the logistics would look like . . . if we did have to force someone through a court order to come before the Congressional committee. This is pretty uncharted territory for many of us and even for Congress.”
Then, one member of the audience asked if Attorney General Bill Barr would enforce subpoenas or contempt of Congress findings against members of the Trump administration during the impeachment inquiry.
“One of the people we held in contempt was Barr,” Tlaib said. “We are using our own legal support, legal experts that are coming in . . . beyond the tainted and conflicted U.S. Attorney [General’s] office.”
Tlaib is either dense or she is outright lying. There are no real subpoenas being issued.
Former U.S. Prosecutor Andy McCarthy explained that the Democrats holding this “impeachment inquiry” has no power to issue subpoenas. Instead, they are issuing “letters” claiming to be valid subpoenas.
“The House acts by voting. It has never voted to conduct an inquiry into whether President Trump should be impeached. Consequently, there is no House impeachment inquiry. There is a partisan exhibition of synchronized dyspepsia,” McCarthy writes.
“This exhibition includes strident letters from a cabal of committee chairs, all Democrats, falsely claiming that a refusal by Trump-administration officials to comply with their demands for information and testimony ‘shall constitute evidence of obstruction of the House’s impeachment inquiry,”‘ McCarthy adds.
“There is no formal impeachment proceeding to obstruct. Furthermore, the letters in question are not actually demands carrying the compulsory force of law; technically, they are just informal requests. No one is required to comply with a mere request, and refusing to do so is not evidence of anything, let alone obstruction,” McCarthy concludes.
“A despicable human being!” Trump wrote in a tweet that also retweeted commentary on the matter by White House social media director Dan Scavino, who accused Democrats of planning a “coup.”

Americans also blasted Tlaib over her “lock them up” claims directed at Trump and his administration.

Andy McCarthy goes on to explain why the Democrats aren’t issuing real subpoenas which they could do in certain committees. Again, Adam Schiff has no power to issue subpoenas in his “impeachment inquiry,” but the Democrats could issue subpoenas on other issues that are part of their many open investigations.
“But standing committees do have subpoena power, so why not use it? Well, because subpoenas get litigated in court when the people or agencies on the receiving end object. Democrats want to have an impeachment show — um, inquiry — on television; they do not want to defend its bona fides in court,” McCarthy explained.
If the Democrats issued real subpoenas, they’d open up their charade to scrutiny by judges who would find their so-called impeachment inquiry highly irregular and invalid. The courts would find it pretty preposterous to be attempting to remove the duly elected president in their one-sided show where Trump has no legal representative allowed and where the minority party has no rights or power.
The Democrats are hoping to keep the American people duped long enough until they have at least half of Americans on board believing Trump should be impeached. Impeachment is purely a political process, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi knows you can’t hold real impeachment hearings unless half of Americans agree that it’s time.
So for now, Adam Schiff will continue his mock hearings behind closed doors on Capitol Hill, along with issuing his “demand letters” and claiming they are subpoenas. When you start something like this based on lies and continue to back up the lies with more untruths, the only end in sight to this charade will be when the majority of people discover the truth.
