Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reportedly came up with the idea of withholding the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump from the Senate by watching CNN, according to Time magazine.
Pelosi, according to an aide, had been mulling the tactic since she heard former Nixon White House counsel John Dean float the idea on CNN on December 5. In the committee meeting, she added that she believed McConnell would be motivated to move.
“Somebody said to me today that he may not even take up what we send. [But] then [Trump] will never be vindicated,” she said, according to the aide in the room. “He will be impeached forever. Forever. No matter what the Senate does.”
“Pelosi’s gambit has been something of a strategic disaster. She and her party rushed the impeachment — even skipping or withdrawing subpoenas for witnesses — on the argument that the president needed to be removed from office urgently to prevent him from soliciting foreign interference in the 2020 election. However, the House has delayed the transmission of the articles of impeachment to the Senate for more than three weeks,” Breitbart reports.
Democrats argue they are using the articles as leverage to force the Senate to conduct what they consider a “fair” trial, with additional witnesses and documents, but that argument is being mocked by Republicans, who note that Democrats departed from past precedents and basic procedural fairness when conducting their rushed impeachment in the House.
Well, Nancy’s own caucus is demanding she stop playing games.
“Representative Adam Smith (D-WA) on Thursday joined the growing list of Democrats calling for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to quit delaying and send the articles of impeachment over to the Senate,” Breitbart reports.
CNN “New Day” host John Berman asked Smith if he thinks it is time for Pelosi to send over the impeachment articles, to which Smith said it is because it will make Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) be “responsible for the fairness of the trial.”
“I think it is [time],” Smith stated. “I mean, I understand what the speaker was trying to do … to try to get a reasonable trial, a trial that would actually show evidence, bring out witnesses.”
He continued, “But at the end of the day just like we control it in the House, Mitch McConnell controls it in the Senate. I think it was perfectly advisable for the speaker to leverage that to get a better deal. At this point, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
What happened to the Democrats’ claim that Trump must be impeached immediately and that they had to do it quickly?
Remember, the Democrats claimed Trump had to be impeached at a record pace because he was “dangerous.” However, Pelosi and her cohorts refuse to deliver the articles for trial?

Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York has asked Republicans to allow the testimony of several key witnesses he believes are privy to the decision the president made to withhold Ukrainian aid over the Summer.
However, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has said that he has the votes to begin the trial before calling witnesses, and he has suggested that Pelosi has no leverage to withhold the articles.
The huge problem the Democrats have is their flip-flopping scenario.
All we can deduce from Pelosi’s actions is that she and the Democrats were lying to the American people when they told us with stern faces that Trump was such a threat to our national security, and the upcoming 2016 election, that they had no choice but to impeach him at a rapid pace.
Now, Pelosi flip-flops and refuses to allow the Senate to hold the trial which is the final process. Americans are waking up. The Democrats are all about what’s politically convenient for them at the time. They don’t care about our national security. They care about keeping their power and getting rid of Trump in any way, period.
They are liars and can’t be trusted. No American in their right mind can vote for a Democrat and think they have America’s best interests at heart.
